"Chonnaphat Naksua" Songkhla MP avoids prison; the Criminal Court grants bail of 1 million baht with conditions prohibiting travel abroad.

After officials from the Department of Special Investigation detained Mr. Chonnaphat Naksua, Songkhla MP from the Kla Tham Party (K.T.), they brought him to the Criminal Court for detention on charges of jointly organizing gambling or using schemes to entice others, directly or indirectly, to participate in unauthorized gambling, and jointly laundering money, offenses under the Gambling Act of 1935 (B.E. 2478).

Officials brought Mr. Chonnaphat to the Criminal Court at 14:30, then escorted him to the duty room for detention proceedings before the court.(Detaining "Chonnaphat" sent to the Criminal Court for detention; he declined to respond to media, briefly saying "Sorry.")

Later, his lawyer submitted a bail petition with collateral. After reviewing the detention request and case circumstances, the court found the defendant had no flight risk and had a fixed residence. The court therefore approved bail during the investigation, setting bail at 1 million baht, requiring the defendant to report to the court every two months, banning travel abroad, and notifying the Immigration Office. The defendant was also prohibited from any actions obstructing or harming the legal process; otherwise, the court would consider revoking bail.
