Authorities have ordered the arrest of a lone suspect who robbed gold valued at more than 3 million baht from a well-known shopping mall in Nakhon Pathom province. They have collected the suspect's fingerprints to compare with those of potential suspects.
According to reports, the suspect wore a black-and-white checkered long-sleeve shirt, black long pants, and a full-face black helmet, carrying a gun. He entered the gold shop alone before closing time at 8:00 p.m. on 11 Mar 2026. Taking advantage of the empty store, he used the gun to threaten staff to hand over trays of gold jewelry from the display case. When staff were too afraid to comply, the suspect jumped inside, grabbed 23 gold chains weighing 2 baht each, totaling 46 baht and valued at over 3 million baht, calmly collected them, then fired shots to clear his escape path. He fled on a motorcycle parked outside the mall, escaping along Phetkasem Road toward Nakhon Chai Si district, as previously reported.Read the news: Man with gun robs over 3 million baht in gold from Nakhon Pathom mall, escapes.)
Only five minutes after the incident, upon receiving the report, Pol. Maj. Gen. Pitak Uppong, Chief of Nakhon Pathom Provincial Police, together with Pol. Col. Achirawat Thaworncharoenwat, Superintendent of Mueang Nakhon Pathom Police Station, and Pol. Lt. Col. Tawan Wattanarangsarn, Deputy Superintendent of the Crime Suppression Division, mobilized police to the scene. Investigation teams from both the provincial and city police inspected the area, cordoning it off to prevent unauthorized access.
Initial investigations revealed the suspect acted alone, arriving on a Honda motorcycle without a license plate parked in front of the mall along Phetkasem Road. Wearing concealing clothing and a full black helmet, he entered the mall directly to the gold shop. Before reaching the counter, he drew a gun and threatened staff to hand over the gold necklaces weighing 2 baht each displayed in the cases. The staff, frightened, crouched inside. The suspect then fired a warning shot into the air, jumped inside, grabbed the necklaces from the display, and after securing the gold, fired three shots to facilitate his escape.
The investigation teams reviewed all CCTV footage from street cameras and within the mall to identify the suspect's physical characteristics. The suspect is approximately 170 centimeters tall, aged about 30-40 years, with a dark reddish complexion. Authorities checked whether anyone matching this description had been scouting the area beforehand, examined facial images, and traced the suspect's escape route through all surveillance along Nakhon Pathom’s roads. No reports were received throughout the night.
At 8:30 a.m. on 12 Mar 2026, Pol. Maj. Gen. Pitak Uppong summoned relevant officers, including Pol. Col. Achirawat Thaworncharoenwat and Pol. Lt. Col. Tawan Wattanarangsarn, along with investigative teams from the provincial and city police stations, for a closed-door meeting at Mueang Nakhon Pathom Police Station lasting over an hour. Afterwards, the officers dispersed to continue their work immediately.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Pitak Uppong revealed after the meeting that officers assigned to the case presented evidence such as CCTV footage from inside the mall and surrounding streets. They reviewed footage starting from the morning of the incident day.
The review showed a person resembling the suspect circling the area multiple times beforehand but not dressed as during the robbery. Examination of police patrol logbooks found normal routine: officers signed in at the mall before closing at 7:10 p.m., spending about five minutes there before proceeding to patrol other malls with sirens on.
It appears the suspect waited until the patrol car left before committing the crime at 7:28 p.m., taking only 6-7 minutes to carry out the robbery and flee. Police were notified by the gold shop at 7:35 p.m. and arrived at the scene within five minutes.
The firearm used was examined by the forensic department and found to be a blank gun, fired twice into the air, producing a loud noise similar to a real gun. Fingerprints were collected from the scene because the suspect did not wear gloves.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Pitak Uppong added that the suspect must be apprehended. Commanders have ordered the investigation to proceed swiftly, involving the Region 7 investigative team due to the audacity of the crime occurring in a city and inside a shopping mall.
Currently, there is a suspect under investigation. Police are checking the individual's background and will summon them for questioning and fingerprint comparison with prints collected at the scene. Authorities request time to complete their work, expecting the case to be resolved soon.
