Police and local authorities joined forces to hunt down "Mee Changklang," a gunman responsible for ten deaths, who had built a treehouse to hide on a high mountain and was cornered when coming down to buy supplies. He admitted to a lifetime of killing victims and said he was being hunted for elimination.
On 12 March 2026, Police Colonel Chaiphat Sriruang, superintendent of Tham Phannara Police Station, led officers from the station, working with the investigation unit of the 8th Provincial Police Region and local administration of Tham Phannara district, to track down Mr. Gomin, known as "Mee Changklang," 51, a key gunman from Changklang subdistrict, Changklang district, Nakhon Si Thammarat. He is wanted for premeditated murder under a warrant issued by the Wiang Sa Provincial Court in Surat Thani province.
This suspect committed crimes in the jurisdiction of Phra Saeng Police Station, Surat Thani. Information showed that Mr. Gomin, or Mee, fled and was hiding on Kalyanamit Cave mountain, a high mountain in Village 7, Dusit subdistrict, Tham Phannara district, Nakhon Si Thammarat, bordering Niphan mountain, Wiang Sa district, Surat Thani.
Officials tracked information that Mr. Gomin, or Mee, came down from the mountain to buy supplies to stock up in his hideout. They monitored and ambushed until they found him, then arrested him and showed the warrant, confirming his identity. A search found one 11 mm handgun and several rounds of ammunition, which were seized.
Mr. Gomin admitted to hiding on the mountain by building a treehouse high in the trees on Kalyanamit Cave mountain. Police escorted him to search the area, hiking over 2 kilometers up the mountain. They were astonished to find the treehouse, which was well concealed if not closely observed. Upon searching, they also found a long shotgun and ammunition.
Mr. Gomin told police that throughout his life he had committed many contract killings, some cases where he was caught and others where he was not. One major case years ago was the murder of a village headman in Tham Phannara district, for which he served 8 years in prison. Since then, he continued as a hired gun, killing dozens of victims, earning hundreds of thousands of baht per victim but never keeping money and always having to hide.
Recently, it was found that a former employer who had ordered hits sent gunmen to hunt him down to kill him, forcing him to flee and hide in the forest. However, police unexpectedly caught him when he came down to get supplies. Currently, police are reviewing old case information and proceeding with active warrants.
