The Metropolitan Police Bureau has embraced the government's energy-saving policy by adjusting work methods, reducing travel for meetings, and using online systems instead, while appropriately managing patrol and security duties, assuring no compromise to public safety.
On 16 March 2026, under the government's nationwide energy-saving measures, citizens and public agencies were urged to reduce unnecessary electricity use, maintain air conditioning temperatures at no lower than 25 degrees Celsius, promote the use of energy-efficient appliances rated '5', and support renewable energy, aiming to cut national energy costs and ensure long-term energy security amid ongoing Middle East conflicts.
Regarding this, Police Lieutenant General Siam Boonsom, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, revealed that internal administration has planned to limit energy use by first suspending travel for inter-agency meetings and replacing them with online meetings to save travel expenses.
As for other responsibilities, patrol units continue their usual rounds but now focus on parking and monitoring at high-risk locations. Traffic, investigation, and protection units have also implemented suitable management plans that do not hinder their duties.
The Commissioner added that for security measures at important tourist sites and various embassies, the Metropolitan Police Bureau has maintained plans to preserve order and prevent unrest in the area since the outset of the Middle East conflict. Overall, the situation remains calm, but close and continuous monitoring is emphasized amid ongoing tensions.
