Modified Pickup Truck Flees Checkpoint Carrying 2.4 Million Meth Pills and Ice, Hired by Lao Boss for 500,000 Baht

In Nakhon Ratchasima, a modified racing pickup truck broke through a checkpoint carrying 2.4 million meth pills and crystal meth before losing control and crossing the median strip, failing to escape. The Nakhon Ratchasima Police Chief personally interrogated the suspect, who admitted previous imprisonment at Khao Bin Prison where he expanded his criminal network. He said he was hired by a Lao boss for 500,000 baht to transport drugs from Nong Khai to Pathum Thani.

At 19:45 on 16 March 2026, Police Colonel Apiwat Nathong, Superintendent of Klang Dong Police Station in Pak Chong District, Nakhon Ratchasima, assigned Police Lieutenant Colonel Ekmanat Wongkham, Head of Patrol Division, to lead 14 police officers to set up a drug checkpoint on Mittraphap Road inbound to Bangkok at kilometers 39-40, in front of the Klang Dong Police Substation, covering both the main and parallel roads.

While on duty, officers spotted a yellow Isuzu four-door pickup truck modified for racing with lowered suspension and BACON Racing Team stickers on the side, parked about 50-60 meters before the checkpoint. Officers on guard radioed the checkpoint police to be alert. When the suspicious vehicle was signaled to stop, it sped past the checkpoint. Patrol officers pursued it down to the Mork Klang Dong exit near kilometers 35-36 in Phaya Yen Subdistrict. The vehicle lost control, crossed the median strip, and ended up on a concrete bridge dividing Muak Lek District, Saraburi Province, and Pak Chong District, Nakhon Ratchasima. The truck’s front and sides were badly damaged; the right front wheel rim was broken and tire blown out. Pursuing police stopped on the opposite side and chased the driver and passenger, who fled on foot.

The driver escaped toward the residence of staff at the Dairy Farming Promotion Organization of Thailand (DPO) in Muak Lek District, while the passenger fled into Phaya Yen Subdistrict. Police deployed units to pursue both.

At the scene, officers found scattered meth pills and crystal meth on the road. In the truck’s driver’s cabin cap and rear bed, more meth pills and crystal meth were hidden inside black plastic boxes. Nearby, a license plate reading 9 กบ 2210 Bangkok was found lying on the road. Inside the vehicle, officers discovered an ID card belonging to Mr. Krisana Damsena, 40, from Nang Rong District, Buriram Province. Later, police found the driver hiding wounded in the forest near the DPO residence, with injuries to his right lip and chest area.

Police Major General Narongsak Promtha, Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Police Chief, arrived at the scene to personally interrogate the driver, identified as Krisana Damsena, 40, matching the ID and driver’s license found. He confessed to being hired to transport 400 bundles of meth pills, each containing 6,000 pills, totaling 2.4 million pills, along with 160 blocks of crystal meth weighing 160 kilograms. The drugs were packed in green and blue plastic bags resembling tea bags, further wrapped in clear plastic inside black plastic boxes. He said he was hired by a Lao man for 500,000 baht to deliver the drugs to Pathum Thani Province.

He admitted that 6-7 years ago he had been imprisoned on drug charges at Khao Bin Prison, where he expanded his network and met the Lao man known as “Hia,” who hired him this time. The passenger who fled is a man. After initial questioning, Krisana, who was injured, was handed over to the Klang Dong Municipality Rescue Unit and taken to Muak Lek Hospital for treatment under police escort of four officers.

Major General Narongsak Promtha praised the Klang Dong police for their vigilance and successful arrest, and ordered pursuit of the remaining fugitive for further investigation and legal action.

In the latest development on the morning of 17 March 2026, reporters learned that police apprehended the other fugitive at the three-way intersection in front of Wat Nam Phu in Phaya Yen Subdistrict, Pak Chong District, near the border with Muak Lek District about 2 km from the incident site. The suspect was identified as Mr. Narawit Rerkklang, 28, from Nong Bunnak District, Nakhon Ratchasima. He was injured with a dislocated left shoulder and was treated at Muak Lek Hospital before being taken into custody for prosecution.
