
The Royal Thai Police honored the bravery of Police Sergeant Major Warathep Srisuwan of the Border Patrol Police’s SINGA special operations unit who sacrificed his life in Pattani. The National Police Chief expressed condolences, ordered full support, provided initial financial aid of 2.8 million baht, and proposed his posthumous promotion to Police Lieutenant Colonel.
On 17 Mar 2026 GMT+7, Police Lieutenant General Chaitpojan Suwanrak, Commander of the Personnel Office and Deputy Spokesperson of the Royal Thai Police, revealed that Police General Kittirat Punpetch, Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, had been informed that Police Sergeant Major Warathep Srisuwan, a squad leader of the Border Patrol Police Company 43 special operations unit SINGA, was shot, seriously wounded, and later died during a clash while apprehending insurgents on the morning of 16 Mar 2026 GMT+7 in Tuyong Subdistrict, Nong Chik District, Pattani Province.
The National Police Chief expressed condolences to Sergeant Major Warathep’s family and instructed the Welfare Division, Personnel Office, and Border Patrol Police Command to fully support the family’s rights and welfare. They will organize a funeral honoring this brave police officer who heroically sacrificed his life to maintain peace and security for the people.
The police deputy spokesperson stated that Sergeant Major Warathep was a dedicated and courageous Border Patrol Police officer. He was trained in the SINGA special operations unit of Border Patrol Police Company 43 and had repeatedly participated in operations to prevent and suppress insurgents, maintaining peace in the southern border provinces without fear. In this latest operation, he gave his all and served as a protector of public peace until his last moment, deserving of high recognition as a "Brave Police Officer."
Police Lieutenant General Chaitpojan added that the Royal Thai Police would provide benefits, including initial financial assistance of approximately 2,860,900 baht, propose a special posthumous promotion, increase his salary by up to seven steps, and promote him to Police Lieutenant Colonel. Additionally, his heirs will have the right to join the police force. The National Police Chief sent encouragement to Sergeant Major Warathep’s family and instructed commanding officers to provide the best possible support.
Furthermore, the National Police Chief extended encouragement to the special operations unit and all police officers serving in the southern border provinces, urging them to carry out every mission to maintain peace safely, with dedication, determination, and constant vigilance to protect their lives.
