At 18:30 on 17 March 2026, Police Colonel Sakda Charoenkul, Deputy Commander of Satun Provincial Police, assigned to the Region 9 Investigation Division, along with Police Colonel Apichat Wannako, Superintendent of Kho Hong Police Station, and investigative officers, inspected the scene where a deceased person was found inside a car at Soi 1/2, Thung Ri-Khok Wat Road, Kho Hong Subdistrict, Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province.
At the scene, a private car was parked with the engine running. Inside was the body of a 26-year-old man, a fourth-year medical student at Prince of Songkla University in Songkhla. He was seated in the driver's seat. Officials from Forensic Science Center 9 and the on-call doctor from Songkhla Nakarin Hospital examined the scene. Initially, no signs of physical assault were found, and it is estimated he died within the last 12 hours.
According to inquiries with nearby residents, the car had been parked since around midnight with the engine continuously running. By evening, it had not been moved and heat had built up inside the vehicle, raising suspicions before officials conducted their inspection.
Officials revealed that earlier that morning, the family filed a missing person report after losing contact with the deceased. A search was initiated, eventually leading to the discovery of the car parked in an alley near the residence.
Preliminary inquiries indicated the deceased had accumulated stress related to academic issues and had previously shown signs of distress. Authorities will conduct a thorough investigation to conclude the true cause of death.
The body was taken for a detailed autopsy at Songkhla Nakarin Hospital before being handed over to the family for religious funeral rites.
