Police Arrest Middle-Aged Man in Sakon Nakhon for Possessing Over 10,000 Child Pornography Files

Police officers arrested a "middle-aged man" in Sakon Nakhon province who possessed more than 10,000 child pornography clips. The suspect claimed he collected the clips for personal viewing.

On 21 March 2026, Pol. Lt. Gen. Suraphol Prembutr, Commander of the Cyber Crime Investigation Division, together with Pol. Lt. Gen. Naradet Thiprak, Chief of Staff to the Royal Thai Police Commander assigned to the Cyber Crime Division, and Pol. Maj. Gen. Komkrit Sukthai, Commander of Cyber Crime Division 3, ordered Pol. Col. Adichart Amornpradit, Chief of the News Analysis and Special Tools Unit, Cyber Crime Division 3, to lead officers with a search warrant from Sakon Nakhon Provincial Court No. K21/2569 to raid a house in Moo 4, Ban Paen Subdistrict, Phon Na Kaeo District, Sakon Nakhon Province, arresting Mr. Thepwatt Prommuang, 51, the homeowner, and seizing one mobile phone.

This followed an investigation by the News Analysis and Special Tools Unit, Cyber Crime Division 3, which received intelligence about possession and distribution of child pornography in Sakon Nakhon. Upon investigation, they identified Mr. Thepwatt as the possessor living in Phon Na Kaeo District. Evidence was gathered to obtain a court search warrant to raid his residence, where they arrested him and seized the mobile phone containing over 10,000 child pornography files depicting boys and girls in various forms.

Initially, Mr. Thepwatt confessed that he personally has an interest in diverse sexual preferences and feels immediate excitement and arousal whenever viewing child pornography clips, nude photos, and images of boys’ or girls’ genitals.

Regarding the child pornography clips, he admitted downloading them via the LINE application to collect for his own viewing. He claimed he did not intend to commercially exploit these images or operate secret groups for others to access child pornography, only occasionally sharing clips with friends on LINE.

However, police charged him with "possessing child pornography for sexual benefit for himself or others" and "importing obscene computer data accessible to the public." He was taken into custody to face legal proceedings.
