Huge Seizure of 8 Million Methamphetamine Pills Hidden in Plastic Crates with Black Bags and Concealed GPS Devices

Phrae — A sharp-witted young man driving a six-wheeler truck accepted a job from a LINE group to deliver goods to Suphanburi Province. Before loading the truck, he inspected the cargo and found black bags hidden inside plastic crates with holes drilled in their bottoms and stacked on top of each other. He quickly called 191 and was shocked to discover over 8 million methamphetamine pills, with the crates also fitted with GPS devices.

On 22 March 2026, a reporter reported that at 12:00 p.m. yesterday (21 Mar 26), the 191 Radio Center received a report of suspicious items, suspected to be narcotics, requesting authorities to inspect a rented warehouse with no number, located in Village 2, Dan Chumphon Subdistrict, Song District, Phrae Province. Investigative teams from Song Police Station, Phrae Provincial Investigation Unit, patrol officers from Song Police Station, and forensic police from Phrae Province were coordinated to inspect the area.

Officers inspected the single-story rented warehouse with no address and found many black plastic crates neatly arranged. Upon checking inside the crates, they found holes drilled in the bottoms and stacked on top of each other, concealing large black bags inside. Empty crates were placed on top as cover. Authorities removed all 40 black bags from the crates. They also found two black GPS tracking devices attached to the crates containing the black bags.

Forensic officers then examined each black bag and found layers consisting of two black bags alternating with one patterned sack, repeated, until reaching yellow wax paper inside. There were 20 blocks wrapped with white paper alternating with clear plastic bags, separated into five bundles. Each bundle contained 10 opaque blue plastic packets, each holding 202 methamphetamine pills—2 green and 200 orange pills—totaling about 200,000 pills per bag. With 40 bags in total, an estimated 8 million methamphetamine pills were found.

When questioned, the six-wheeler driver said he accepted the job through a job-seeking LINE group where someone posted about transporting empty baskets from Song District, Phrae Province, to Suphanburi Province, offering 6,000 baht. He took the job. Upon arrival at the pickup point, he asked to inspect the goods before loading, to verify if the baskets were truly empty. He found black bags stuffed inside instead. He immediately called 191 since he did not know what was inside. He was still in contact with the person who hired him and told them the baskets were not empty. The hirer told him to notify the authorities and have the police investigate.

Regarding whether the hirer received the items further along the route, the driver said he did not know. His job was just to pick up here and deliver there, then finish the task. The destination was unknown to him, but he was given a location pin. Several people were waiting to help unload—three or four people. When he went to lift the baskets to check, those waiting fled on motorcycles, disappearing completely.

Initially, authorities reviewed CCTV footage around the incident site to track the escape routes of all suspects leaving the scene. They are investigating to trace the origin of all the narcotics and will proceed with legal action accordingly.
