A man surrendered to police after fatally assaulting his girlfriend at their home in Pathum Thani, admitting the attack was due to jealousy over suspected chats with other men. A body examination found drugs in his system.
At 03:00 on 24 March 2026, Police Lieutenant Colonel Preecha Teksri, Deputy Inspector (Investigation) of Lat Lum Kaeo Police Station, was notified by the Na Mai Subdistrict Administrative Organization rescue team of a fatal assault at a house in Village No. 8, Na Mai Subdistrict, Lat Lum Kaeo District, Pathum Thani Province. Upon receiving the report, he proceeded to the scene with patrol officers, investigation team members, Ruamkatanyu Foundation volunteers, and the on-call doctor from Lat Lum Kaeo Hospital.
At the scene, a two-story house, the victim was found on the ground floor in front of the house. She was identified as Ms. Namfon, 40, a resident of Pathum Thani. Initial examination showed bruises on her face and body consistent with assault. The suspect, Mr. Somsak, 48, the homeowner’s son and the victim’s boyfriend, had fled the scene by car.
Household members reported that around midnight, they heard the couple arguing in the adjacent house but did not intervene, as such disputes were frequent. Around 1:50 a.m., they heard Mr. Somsak shouting for help. When they came down, they found Ms. Namfon unconscious and called the Na Mai rescue team. The responders performed CPR upon arrival but were unsuccessful; Ms. Namfon was declared dead. The rescue team then informed the police to investigate.
Ms. Namfon worked at a company in Pathum Thani. Mr. Somsak, the suspect, did casual labor. They had been secretly involved for about three to four months, as the victim was married. In mid-February, they had a dispute at this house, after which she called her husband to pick her up, promising not to contact Mr. Somsak or return to the house. However, she resumed the relationship, which eventually led to the fatal argument.
After preliminary forensic examination, the body was handed over to the Ruamkatanyu Foundation to be sent to the Forensic Institute, Ministry of Justice, for a detailed autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. Authorities will continue to pursue legal action against the suspect.
At 06:00, Mr. Somsak surrendered to Lat Lum Kaeo Police Station. He claimed, “Last night, I saw the victim chatting with other men. When I asked, she was indifferent, acting suspiciously. She had shown such behavior before, causing frequent arguments. It was jealousy. I never intended to hurt her because I loved her. We argued for hours last night, then I hit her. She ran outside, sat down, and asked for smelling salts. I even asked if she was joking and went to get some. When I returned, she lay down and was unresponsive. I tried to wake her but couldn’t, so I called for an ambulance. I followed the ambulance, but my sibling later told me she had died. I am very sorry and want to apologize to her family. I did not want this to happen.”
After preliminary questioning, Mr. Somsak was tested and found positive for drugs, which he admitted. He was taken to the investigator and charged with assault causing death and drug use. Legal proceedings will follow.
