Nonthaburi — Progress in the case of a murdered Lao woman whose body was dismembered: police discovered additional body parts packed in six black bags dumped along the road beside the Khlong Prapa canal in Pak Kret. Two more bags remain missing according to the boyfriend's statement, who claims he left them near their apartment. The timeline after the crime reveals the perpetrator walking back to the room carrying a black shoulder bag as if nothing had happened.
At 20:00 on 24 March 2026, Police Lieutenant Colonel Nipon Polsawat, Deputy Investigation Officer of Pak Kret Police Station, Nonthaburi province, was informed by Thung Song Hong Police Station that several bags containing body parts had been found dumped by the roadside along the Khlong Prapa canal near the entrance to an alley beside Saint Francis Xavier School in Ban Mai subdistrict.
An investigation was conducted with Police Major General Kiattikul Sonthiener, Commander of Metropolitan Police Division 2; Police Colonel Adirek Thongkamkaew, Chief of Pak Kret Police Station; Police Colonel Athadee Sermsuk, Chief of Investigation Division, Metropolitan Police Division 2; Police Colonel Yuttasilp Karin, Chief of Thung Song Hong Police Station; and other senior officers, including rescue personnel from Poh Teck Tung Foundation and forensic experts from the Institute of Forensic Science.
At the scene, investigators found the woman’s severed head wrapped in a towel inside a black garbage bag, emitting a strong foul odor from decomposition. Search teams and rescue workers then spread out nearby, discovering five more black bags discarded along a 300-meter stretch of road. These contained dismembered torso, left arm, and leg pieces. Two bags had been thrown into the canal, while three were hidden in tall grass—all parts belonging to the same woman. The search ended at midnight without locating the hip and right arm parts.
The shocking case began on 24 March when Mr. Det, a 26-year-old Lao national, reported to Police Lieutenant Patcharapol Wutthimethanan, Deputy Investigation Officer of Thung Song Hong Police Station, that his 20-year-old sister, Ms. Ram, also Lao, had gone missing from their apartment in Soi Chaeng Watthana 14, Thung Song Hong subdistrict, Lak Si district, Bangkok. Her boyfriend, Mr. Tom, 24, also Lao, claimed they had an argument which caused her to leave the apartment, and he lost contact with her.
Suspecting foul play, Mr. Det requested to review security footage from the apartment, which showed no evidence of his sister leaving as Mr. Tom described. Police searched the apartment but found no one inside. However, a strong smell of blood pervaded the room, and bloodstains were found on the floor, leading authorities to suspect something terrible had happened to Ms. Ram.
Investigators coordinated with forensic police to collect evidence at the scene. They suspected Mr. Tom had committed the crime and fled the apartment, likely returning home to cross into Laos. Police alerted immigration checkpoints along all routes to Laos to apprehend him.
At around 17:00 on 24 March, the Thung Song Hong investigation team was informed by Nong Khai immigration officers that Mr. Tom had been arrested while attempting to flee across the border into Laos.
During interrogation, Mr. Tom confessed to killing and dismembering his girlfriend, packing her body parts into eight black bags. He stated that he disposed of two bags in the canal beside the Khlong Prapa road, two bags along the roadside, and two bags hidden in grass near the entrance to an alley beside Saint Francis Xavier School in Pak Kret district. The remaining two bags were reportedly left near their apartment. Police from Thung Song Hong are still searching for these according to his statement.
Further investigation revealed that on 21 March, Mr. Tom picked up his girlfriend from Chonburi province to their apartment in Soi Chaeng Watthana 14. On the night of 24 March, Mr. Det came to look for his sister at the apartment because he had lost contact. Surveillance footage showed Mr. Tom leaving the apartment carrying a black shoulder bag and a black plastic bag.
He then left the apartment but returned carrying the black shoulder bag as if nothing had happened, until his arrest.
Regarding the motive, police from Thung Song Hong Police Station were en route to Nong Khai province to bring the suspect back for detailed questioning.
Further updates will be reported as the investigation progresses.
