A Laotian man confessed to the shocking murder and dismemberment of his fellow Laotian girlfriend. The motive was jealousy-fueled rage after he followed her to Pattaya and saw disturbing images of her with customers at a karaoke bar.
At 08:30 on 25 Mar 2026 GMT+7, at the Nong Khai Immigration Investigation Unit, Deputy Superintendent Thiyajapat Rangsipramonkul and Superintendent Apichat Klatha of Nong Khai Immigration, along with their investigative team, arrested Tom, 26, a Laotian national suspected of killing and dismembering his 20-year-old Laotian girlfriend Ram. Under the command of Police Major General Pairat Pukcharoen, Commander of Immigration Division 4, and Police Colonel Noppadol Rakchat, Chief of Nong Khai Immigration, the arrest was led by Deputy Superintendent Thiyajapat Rangsipramonkul and Superintendent Apichat Klatha.
He was apprehended near the Nong Khai border checkpoint while attempting to find a way to cross back into Laos. He will be handed over to the Thung Song Hong Metropolitan Police for prosecution on charges of intentional homicide and concealing, moving, or destroying a body to cover up the death.
When asked if he loved his girlfriend, Tom said he did not want to reveal how deeply he cared, but admitted he loved her very much. They had been together for six to seven years and had tied a traditional wristband to signify their bond. They came to Thailand together to work at nearby locations—he in a hospital kitchen and she at a market. He followed her to Pattaya because she had run off to work there this month.
Tom explained that they had planned to return home to Laos in early March 2026, having both quit their jobs. However, his girlfriend refused to return and fled to work at a restaurant and karaoke bar in Pattaya. When he went to find her, he was barred from entering the venue, so he watched from outside. Around 5 a.m., he saw her leave the bar with a customer. He approached her as the customer went back inside. He overheard the bar owner tell the customer, “Go back first, then come to see her in the room later.”
Tom threatened to call her relatives, saying if she returned with him, he would tell them what kind of work she was doing. She was ashamed and didn’t want anyone to know, so she agreed to return with him to Bangkok. Upon arrival, she said she was tired and wanted to rest; they did not argue. His intention was to take her home so their elders could mediate.
Regarding the cause of death, Tom refused to provide details, saying he had already told the authorities everything. He admitted the killing was due to jealousy and a moment of rage, during which he stabbed her to death. He then dismembered her body into pieces, placing them in eight black bags. Two bags, likely containing arm parts, were discarded in a trash bin near a soi entrance. The other six bags were dumped in Nonthaburi province. He said he dismembered the body starting from the legs up to the neck, applying skills he had previously used when butchering animals.
Deputy Superintendent Thiyajapat Rangsipramonkul said he was alerted by tourist police that a key suspect had fled Bangkok and arrived at Udon Thani Airport. They launched an investigation and successfully tracked down and arrested the suspect. This case is similar to others that Nong Khai Immigration has investigated and resolved.
The suspect tried to find a way to cross back into Laos but was unable to, as his information had been entered into the immigration system. Presenting his documents at the checkpoint triggered an immediate alert to authorities.
Initial questioning revealed the suspect claimed the motive was an impulsive act of rage, though authorities remain somewhat skeptical. He will be transferred to Thung Song Hong police to face legal proceedings.
