Gambler Appeals After Being Assaulted by Over 50 Men at Gambling Den, Severely Injured, Pleading for Life Ignored

A "gambler" appealed to the Sai Mai Tong Rod Facebook page after being brutally beaten by over 50 men at a gambling den, suffering severe injuries. Despite pleading for his life, he was not spared. His girlfriend came to help but was also attacked, resulting in a burst blood vessel in her eye. Evidence was reportedly deleted. Although a police report has been filed, the case has not advanced.

At 2:30 p.m. on 26 March 2026, Mr. Sombun, 33, sought justice from Mr. Ekaphop Luangprasert, founder of the Sai Mai Tong Rod page, after being assaulted by a group of more than 50 men at a gambling den located in Soi Aun Aree, Tai Ban Mai Subdistrict, Mueang District, Samut Prakan Province.

The victim stated that on the evening of 21 March, he and his girlfriend went to play hi-lo at the den, a place he had frequented for over two years. During the game, the owner asked the dealer to change the dice, alleging they had been tampered with. His girlfriend then volunteered to be the dealer using dice provided by the den. A scuffle broke out when other gamblers began attacking him—punching, hitting with brooms—and tried to take him into a room. Instead, the opponents called reinforcements of over 50 men who assaulted him with wooden sticks, iron rods, flower pots, and traffic cones without mercy, ignoring his pleas for mercy. He suffered a dislocated shoulder, split lip, a head wound requiring more than 20 stitches, and bruises all over his body. His girlfriend was also attacked, suffering a burst blood vessel in her eye, swelling, and bruises.

After the incident, the victim filed a police report, but the case has not progressed. When attempting to obtain CCTV footage, he found all the data had been deleted. Additionally, the perpetrators contacted him to negotiate, asking to wait until his injuries healed before discussing compensation. However, the victim insists on pursuing the case to the fullest extent.

Ekaphop Luangprasert revealed that he initially coordinated with the Provincial Police Region 1 to investigate, noting the government’s clear policy to crack down on illegal gambling dens. The case involves a hi-lo den where an assault occurred involving more than 50 people, so legal responsibility must be assigned. Both sides were involved in violence: one side with 50 men, the other a single person. Among the larger group, two were stabbed. Both parties filed reports. The matter will proceed through legal channels.

Regarding the location, upon inspection today, he found the area was not physically a gambling den. It is known that hundreds of people frequent the site. He explained to the victim that although he was the victim, illegal gambling is also a violation of the law and may lead to prosecution.

Meanwhile, the Sai Mai Tong Rod page accompanied the victim to the scene, where he suddenly collapsed and needed emergency medical transport to a hospital. Authorities are currently gathering evidence and pursuing the perpetrators for prosecution in accordance with the law.
