The Metropolitan Police Bureau clarifies the case of the staircase at the new Sutthisan Police Station, affirming that all legal steps have been followed to ensure the greatest benefit. The station has not yet opened, pending the TOR process for the underground electrical system.
On 30 March 2026, reporters noted that the Facebook page of the Metropolitan Police Bureau posted a statement clarifying the facts regarding the new Sutthisan Police Station building.
This follows the circulation of information and questions concerning the condition of the new Sutthisan Metropolitan Police Station building.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Siam Boonsom, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, ordered Pol. Maj. Gen. Thinkorn Somwandi, Deputy Commissioner of the Bureau’s Administration Division, to verify the information. Initially, Pol. Col. Porntep Chalermkiat, Superintendent of Sutthisan Police Station, reported that the new station has not yet opened because it is awaiting the installation of underground electrical systems along Ratchada-Rama 9 roads as per the Electricity Authority’s regulations. This process is currently underway to prepare the Terms of Reference (TOR).
To prevent unauthorized persons, such as vagrants who had previously trespassed into the new station and accessed upper floors during contractor renovations causing damage, partial ceiling closures were installed as a temporary measure. These closures can be removed once the station is ready to open and fully operational for public service.
The Metropolitan Police Bureau affirms it has followed all legal procedures to maximize the efficiency of police operations and to best facilitate services for the public.
