Police brought the stepfather in for questioning, after which he confessed to torturing and assaulting 3-year-old Nong Phupha with a cigarette, causing the child's death. He claimed he was angry and did not expect the child to die.
The case began when the Paweena Foundation accompanied the mother of 3-year-old Nong Phupha to file a complaint after her son suddenly died. At the time of the incident, the child was alone with his stepfather while the mother was working at a factory.
Meanwhile, the Forensic Institute at the Police Hospital revealed the autopsy results, finding the 3-year-old boy had massive internal bleeding in the abdomen, a ruptured small intestine, bruises on the abdomen, bruising around the eyes and torso, abrasions on the testicles, and contusions all around the head. Doctors concluded the injuries were caused by blunt force trauma, as previously reported.
Latest update: On 30 Mar 2026 at the investigation room of Nong Kham Police Station, Si Racha District, Chonburi Province, Pol. Col. Komkrit Munchit, Chief of Nong Kham Police Station, revealed that investigators arrested Mr. Soradet, 20 years old, the stepfather, on charges of assault causing death.
Pol. Col. Komkrit said that after obtaining an arrest warrant for the stepfather, authorities immediately took action and detained the suspect for further questioning. The suspect confessed to committing the assault out of anger and admitted to torturing the child by using a cigarette on his body and testicles but did not expect the child to die. Police have detained him, formally charged him per the arrest warrant, and will proceed with legal action accordingly.
