Life-Threatening Danger: Police Raid Warehouse of Fake Blood Pressure Monitors of a Famous Brand, Seize Large Stock

Police raided a warehouse storing counterfeit blood pressure monitors of a well-known brand, seizing goods valued at over 2 million baht. They warned consumers to check before buying and be cautious, as using counterfeit devices can be life-threatening.

On 30 Mar 2026 GMT+7, the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), through the Economic Crime Suppression Division (ECSD), under the direction of Police Lieutenant General Nattasak Chaowanasai, Commander of the CIB, along with officers from Division 1 of ECSD, jointly conducted a search of a warehouse in Ban Ko Subdistrict, Mueang District, Samut Sakhon Province.

They arrested Ms. Tawinan, 40, charging her with possession for sale of goods bearing counterfeit trademarks registered in the kingdom. Authorities seized 1,120 counterfeit OMRON blood pressure monitors, with an estimated damage value of 2,240,000 baht.

The investigation began after police from ECSD received a complaint from OMRON Healthcare (Thailand) Co., Ltd. about illicit online sales of blood pressure monitors bearing counterfeit company trademarks. Officers from Division 1 of ECSD conducted an investigation, locating the storage site, and obtained a search warrant from the Samut Sakhon Provincial Court to carry out the search.

During the search, police found 1,120 blood pressure monitors bearing counterfeit OMRON trademarks. They seized the items and arrested the owner, then brought the suspect and evidence to Division 1 of ECSD for prosecution. The suspect confessed to all charges during initial questioning.

However, using counterfeit blood pressure monitors not only violates intellectual property law but also poses direct health risks. Such devices can provide inaccurate health readings, leading to incorrect diagnoses. If readings are erroneous, patients with high blood pressure risk serious conditions like stroke or heart attack. Poor-quality measurements also affect medical treatment decisions and the administration of appropriate medications for blood pressure management.
