A group of about 10 thieves sneaked into a factory that is set to open in less than two months and cut copper wiring inside, causing damage estimated at tens of millions of baht. The owner has offered a 50,000 baht reward for anyone providing useful information.
According to a case involving a CCTV clip released from a camera installed inside a factory still under renovation in Nong Irun Subdistrict, the footage shows nine men aged approximately 30 to 40 years breaking in. They then spread out searching for something while carrying what appeared to be copper wiring out of the warehouse.
Today (31 March 2026), a reporter received a complaint from Mr. Phisit Suntornkampolrat, the owner of a paper packaging box factory. He showed the CCTV footage along with a police report from Ban Bueng Police Station, and guided the reporter through the damage inside the factory.
It was found that electrical wiring had been cut from the control panels, causing damage at multiple points. Also discovered were traces left by the thieves, such as betel spit stains on the floor and footprints moving around inside the building, consistent with the CCTV footage.
The victim suspects the culprits are foreign nationals from neighboring countries who sneaked in to steal over 100 kilograms of copper wiring, causing damage worth tens of millions of baht. The factory is still installing machinery but has security guards stationed at the front. The thieves entered from the rear of the factory during the night, using a car as transportation. The owner only became aware of the incident two to three days later.
Mr. Phisit, the factory owner, added that he suffered significant losses because the factory was scheduled to open this May, but this incident forced a delay. He urged scrap dealers to check the origins of items they purchase to avoid supporting stolen goods or aiding these thieves.
Authorities or citizens with any information about the thieves can report it. The owner has promised an immediate reward of 50,000 baht for anyone whose tip leads to their arrest.
