Five Suspects Arrested in Sisaket with Over One Million Methamphetamine Pills Seized, Drugs Expected to be Distributed During Songkran Festival

Authorities conducting a major crackdown on a large drug trafficking network in Sisaket have arrested five suspects and seized over one million methamphetamine pills. The drugs are believed to have been stored in preparation for distribution during the Songkran festival, with further investigations planned.

At 13:00 on 1 April 2026, at the 5th-floor meeting room of the Sisaket Provincial Hall (Thepha Building), Muang District, Sisaket Province, Mr. Anurat Thammaprajamjit, Governor of Sisaket, together with Pol. Maj. Gen. Supachai Sakrinpanichkul, Commander of the Sisaket Provincial Police, Mr. Suriya Butrjinda, Deputy Governor of Sisaket, Pol. Col. Chayakorn Tesabumrung, Deputy Commander of Sisaket Provincial Police, and Mr. Sa-ard Wongrak, Sisaket Provincial Clerk, jointly held a press conference announcing the results of a major drug network arrest in the area.

This arrest resulted from an integrated effort by the Sisaket Provincial Police drug suppression unit working alongside the “238 Pitak Nakhon Lamduan” task force, mobilizing police, military, local administration, and related agencies to closely investigate the suspects' activities. They successfully dismantled two drug networks simultaneously, arresting five suspects and seizing a total of 1,002,180 methamphetamine pills, along with several related assets valued at approximately 2 million baht.

Regarding the first network, authorities arrested three suspects: Mr. Phuwit, 20, from Uthumphon Phisai District; Mr. Watsiri, 35, from Rasi Salai District; and Mr. Worawat, also known as Tom, 36, from Uthumphon Phisai District. They seized 994,000 methamphetamine pills hidden for distribution across various areas. Investigators tracked the suspects' behavior before arresting them near rural highway 4041 at Ban Pek, Rang Raeng Subdistrict, Uthumphon Phisai District, Sisaket Province. Subsequently, they expanded their search to additional target locations in Nong Ueng Subdistrict, Rasi Salai District, known as a drug storage site.

During the search, authorities found a massive quantity of methamphetamine pills hidden in the area and seized three vehicles used to transport the drugs: a Toyota pickup truck, an ISUZU pickup truck, and a Nissan March sedan, with a combined estimated value of about 2 million baht. Officials believe this network plays a key role as intermediaries receiving drugs from production sources before distributing them to smaller networks across multiple districts in Sisaket and neighboring provinces.

Additionally, authorities apprehended a second network in Prang Ku District, arresting two suspects named Mr. Atthaphon and Mr. Ronachai, along with 8,180 methamphetamine pills. Preliminary findings indicate this network is involved in clandestine drug sales within local communities and may be linked to the larger network previously arrested.

Currently, authorities are expediting further investigations and expanding the case. All suspects face charges under the Narcotics Act and have been detained and handed over to investigators for legal proceedings.

Mr. Anurat Thammaprajamjit, Governor of Sisaket, stated that this operation is a significant success in intercepting a large batch of drugs from entering communities, which could have widespread harmful effects on youth and the public. He emphasized that drug networks typically stockpile drugs before the Songkran festival because increased checkpoints during the festival make transportation riskier. Therefore, traffickers prefer to move and store drugs beforehand to distribute during the festival period.
