Suspect in Shooting of Foreman on M6 Motorway Held in Sikhiu Court Motive Linked to Love Verification

Authorities brought the suspect who shot the foreman on the M6 motorway to Sikhiu Court for detention, revealing the murder motive involved a pledge to prove love before the woman stopped the car and took her own life in front of police. Officers are maintaining close security due to the suspect's fragile mental state.

On 3 April 2026 at Suang Nern Police Station in Nakhon Ratchasima Province, police prepared to bring Mr. Kueakoon Sombat, 28, the suspect in the shooting death of Mr. Supakorn Traiphopklang, known as “Golf,” 30, a foreman who died on the M6 motorway, to Sikhiu Provincial Court to file a detention request before noon today. Security measures are strict and continuous as the suspect is visibly stressed and suffers from insomnia.

The case originated when Ms. Chompoonut, 28, the victim’s ex-girlfriend, could not accept their breakup and his new relationship with someone else. She consulted Mr. Kueakoon, an old friend who secretly loved her, to find a hitman for 35,000 baht. When no hitman was found, Mr. Kueakoon, willing to do anything to prove his love for Ms. Chompoonut, decided to carry out the act himself, using a shotgun and his father's car for the crime.

On the day of the incident, Ms. Chompoonut drove Mr. Kueakoon to follow the victim on the M6 motorway at kilometer 172, Non Kha Subdistrict, Suang Nern District. She intentionally rammed the victim's car to force him to stop. Mr. Kueakoon, seated in the back, fired two shots at the victim, causing him to fall. Ms. Chompoonut then ordered him to fire two more shots, totaling four, to ensure the kill. They collected the shell casings and fled. Later near Lam Takhong, Ms. Chompoonut warned of a checkpoint ahead, stopped the car, and jumped off the M6 motorway, dying on the median at Mittraphap Road Km 80/900 under the M6 motorway in Nong Sarai Subdistrict, Pak Chong District, Nakhon Ratchasima.

After the incident, Mr. Kueakoon drove to Nong Khai Province before returning to his hometown in Lopburi Province, where police investigation officers ultimately arrested him.

Police Colonel It Boonya-rit, Superintendent of Suang Nern Police Station, stated that officers are closely monitoring the suspect to prevent any unforeseen incidents due to his fragile mental state. Three officers from Sikhiu Police Station are assigned to keep him under direct sight before proceeding with legal steps to detain him at Sikhiu Provincial Court before noon today.

Yesterday, after reports surfaced of Ms. Chompoonut's body found in the grass beside a concrete barrier under the M6 motorway along Mittraphap Road Km 80/900 inbound to Bangkok, opposite Thao Suranaree Park in Nong Sarai Subdistrict, Pak Chong District, Nakhon Ratchasima, police coordinated with the Nakhon Ratchasima Forensic Science Center 3 and Superintendent It Boonya-rit for examination.

Initial findings showed the body with broken limbs, beginning decomposition, and extensive maggot infestation. The clothing matched CCTV footage, leading to the conclusion it was Ms. Chompoonut. The body was then taken for a further autopsy at the forensic department.

At 11:00 a.m. at Suang Nern Police Station in Nakhon Ratchasima, the investigation and inquiry team escorted Mr. Kueakoon Sombat to Sikhiu Provincial Court for detention according to legal procedures after completing questioning and gathering evidence. The atmosphere was very strict.

When taken to the vehicle, Mr. Kueakoon appeared expressionless and wore a helmet at all times. He did not give any interviews or respond to questions, despite reporters attempting to ask about his motives for the crime.
