The Central Investigation Bureau arrested a violent man who dragged his ex-girlfriend's hair and poured acid on her, causing severe injuries after she refused to reconcile with him.
On 3 Apr 2026, the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), through the Crime Suppression Division (CSD) under the command of Pol. Lt. Gen. Natsak Chawanasai, Director of CIB, along with officers from Division 2, CSD,
jointly arrested Mr. Surachai, or Bird, aged 36, a suspect wanted under an arrest warrant issued by the Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Provincial Court No. 213/2567 dated 13 Apr 2024. He was apprehended at a construction site in Bang Phra Khru Subdistrict, Nakhon Luang District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province.
The case began on 9 Apr 2024 when the victim dined with friends at a restaurant in Bang Krasan Subdistrict, Bang Pa-in District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya. After the meal, the victim and friends walked to the victim's car to drive a friend to their accommodation before returning home. During this time, Mr. Surachai, the suspect and former partner who had previously broken up with the victim, secretly hid inside the victim's car, claiming to have a spare key.
After the victim drove the friend away, Mr. Surachai tried to talk to her to reconcile, but she refused. This led to a heated argument inside the car. When the victim reached the entrance of a village in Bang Pa-in District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, she stopped the car to seek help from security personnel. The suspect ran after her, forcefully grabbed her hair, pulled her back into the car, then took a container of acid he had prepared in advance and poured it onto her head and face before fleeing.
As a result, the victim sustained severe injuries and was treated at a hospital. She suffered third-degree burns that damaged the dermis layer and destroyed some capillaries, affecting areas including her head, ears, face, neck, chest, back, shoulders, arms, and legs. The victim's brother filed a complaint against Mr. Surachai with the Bang Pa-in Police Station.
Subsequently, the investigating officers petitioned the Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Provincial Court, which approved an arrest warrant No. 213/2567 dated 13 Apr 2024, charging him with "assault causing grievous bodily harm".
Police continuously tracked the suspect, who fled and worked at a construction site in Nakhon Luang District. Investigators from Division 2, CSD, gathered information and monitored the suspect and associated persons. They spotted a man matching Mr. Surachai’s description driving into the parking area and moved to arrest and detain him. He was then handed over to the Bang Pa-in Police Station, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Provincial Police, for legal proceedings.
Further investigation revealed that Mr. Surachai is also wanted for two other offenses in different jurisdictions:
1. An arrest warrant from the Pathum Thani Provincial Court, case number A824/2566 and red case number A650/2567, dated 14 May 2024, on charges of "document forgery and use of forged documents."
2. An arrest warrant from the Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Provincial Court, case number A592/2567 and red case number A600/2567, dated 23 May 2024, on charges of "theft using a vehicle to facilitate the crime, removal of stolen property, or to evade arrest, and receiving stolen goods."
During questioning, Mr. Surachai, or Bird, confessed to all charges. He admitted that on the day of the incident, he carried acid in a shoulder bag with him prior to the attack.
