The Governor of Narathiwat Province has ordered the establishment of a committee to investigate the matter of using an official vehicle to carry out a killing, of MP Kamolsak. This afternoon, anticipation rises for the unveiling of the mastermind's name.
On 6 April 2026, reporters reported that progress in the case where perpetrators used a pickup truck from the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) of Narathiwat Province to shoot Mr. Kamolsak Liwamo, MP for Narathiwat District 5, of the Prachachart Party, on 20 March 2026, was ongoing. Mr. Boonchuay Homyamyen, Governor of Narathiwat, revealed that the investigation committee's findings will be released today and reported to the 4th Army Area Commander. The committee will consider the police's case files, which are already known to the commander. To ensure proper procedures, facts will be examined. The committee includes Mr. Wichan Chaisetsampan, Deputy Governor for Security, as chairman, the Deputy Director of ISOC (military side), and the provincial secretary as members. Their report will be submitted to the governor today.
Regarding the use of the ISOC vehicle in Narathiwat for the crime, the National Anti-Corruption Commission and the Office of the Auditor-General are already conducting strict investigations. Even using government vehicles for private meals is considered an offense. The governor has emphasized to department heads the importance of oversight on personnel, finances, materials, and vehicles, instructing all heads of government units accordingly.
A press conference will be held by the Commander of the 9th Provincial Police Region at the Frontline Police Operations Center in Yala Province at 13:30 today.
Currently, the investigation team has gathered evidence identifying the group of perpetrators involved in the incident, which was organized as a network. They followed the target from Hat Yai Airport, carried out the shooting, dismantled the vehicle to destroy evidence, and now five arrest warrants have been issued for:
1. Mr. Somporn Langdet, a former marine, acting as the employer (arrested).
2. Mr. Yotsakorn Langdet, son of Mr. Somporn, who was in the ISOC vehicle used in the crime (arrested).
3. Mr. Alawi Awae, the driver of the ISOC pickup truck (arrested).
4. Mr. Thanaphat Watthanaphinyo, the shooter (at large).
5. Mr. Suntorn Promphakdi, the owner of the garage who dismantled the vehicle (arrested).
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Commander Montri Toprasert, who is responsible for overseeing the vehicles, is under an internal fact-finding committee. The person who arranged to borrow the vehicle is Lieutenant Colonel Wiroj Ketmanee, a former marine, who gave it to Mr. Alawi to drive to pick up the team involved in the crime.
Mr. Yotsakorn was a passenger, though his exact role remains unclear. Suspects linked to the vehicle's alteration have been interrogated but no arrest warrants have been issued yet, as investigations continue.
