Police Submit 45 Dossiers to Prosecutors to Charge Big Joke and Associates in 246 Baht Gold Bribery Case

The Anti-Corruption Police have delivered 45 case files on 'Big Joke' and his associates in the 246-baht gold bribery case to the prosecutors. The prosecutors will soon form a team to review the files to decide if they are sufficient to proceed with charges.

At 09:30 on 8 Apr 2026 GMT+7, at the front of the Central Investigation Bureau headquarters, Pol. Col. Phanumas Saengsong, Chief of Division 1, Anti-Corruption Police, together with investigators from Division 1, delivered the investigation files on Pol. Gen. Surachate Hakparn, or 'Big Joke', former Deputy Commissioner-General, and his associates involved in the 246-baht gold bribery case to the Office of the Attorney General for legal consideration. This submission included a detailed and voluminous collection of documents totaling 45 files packed into 23 cardboard boxes.

This case arose after investigations revealed that Pol. Gen. Surachate and associates handed over more than 246 baht of gold to officials of the National Anti-Corruption Commission, aiming to seek assistance or gain benefits in a legal matter. The Anti-Corruption Police investigators have continuously gathered evidence and concluded that prosecution is warranted, leading to today's submission of the case files to the prosecutors.

Next, the Director-General of the Anti-Corruption Litigation Office will establish a working group to thoroughly review the case files to determine whether the evidence is complete and sufficient to file charges with the Central Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases. This is a high-profile case attracting public interest due to its involvement of a senior police official and the large value of the alleged bribe.
