4-Month Prison Sentence Without Suspension for Keng Lai Prang Over Repeated Offense Promoting Gambling Websites, Claims High Monthly Income

The court ordered imprisonment of "Keng Lai Prang" for 4 months without suspension after cyber police arrested him for repeated offenses promoting the 888 gambling website, claiming a high monthly income in the hundreds of thousands of baht.

On 10 Apr 2024 GMT+7, Pol. Lt. Gen. Suraphol Prembutr, Commander of the Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD), together with Pol. Lt. Gen. Naradet Thiprak, Permanent Commander at the Royal Thai Police Office assisting TCSD, and Pol. Maj. Gen. Siriwat Deepor, Commander of TCSD Division 1, ordered Pol. Col. Kritin Tapsilo, Chief of the News Analysis and Special Tools Unit, TCSD Division 1, and Pol. Lt. Col. Rittikrai Khuntaothiam, Investigator of the same unit, to pursue and arrest Mr. Jirayu Yimumpai also known as "Keng Lai Prang" aged 44, a well-known influencer and owner of a curry rice shop business in the Ratchadaphisek area of Bangkok, to prosecute him after discovering his promotion of a famous online gambling website.

Investigations by the News Analysis and Special Tools Unit of TCSD Division 1 revealed that during 2024, Mr. Jirayu, also known as Keng Lai Prang, had posted video clips of himself encouraging people or interested parties to participate in gambling via an online gambling website named “macua 888.” He also clearly demonstrated how to gamble on the site to advertise and openly invite the general public to gamble online without fear of the law.

Later, Mr. Jirayu, or Keng Lai Prang, went to meet Pol. Maj. Gen. Siriwat Deepor, Commander of TCSD Division 1, at the Technology Crime Suppression Division 1 headquarters in Chaeng Watthana Government Complex, Laksi District, Bangkok, after receiving a summons from investigators to acknowledge charges of "organizing or advertising, directly or indirectly, for the public to gamble."

He initially admitted to producing his own video clips to advertise the online gambling website before his previous imprisonment. He said he resumed because he received high compensation from the employer, amounting to hundreds of thousands of baht per month.

He was then sent to Don Mueang District Court, which sentenced Mr. Jirayu or Keng Lai Prang to 6 months imprisonment. Because the defendant had a prior final judgment for possession of Category 1 narcotics, the penalty was increased by one-third to 8 months. Later, after he confessed, the sentence was halved to 4 months imprisonment without suspension.
