Elderly Man Tearfully Receives 1,000 Baht Cash Returned by Nong Chang Police Officer Says 1,000 Baht Is Valuable Amid Economic Hardship

Praise goes to the Deputy Traffic Inspector of Nong Chang Police Station who found 1,000 baht in cash dropped in front of an electrical appliance shop. He checked CCTV footage to track down the true owner, emphasizing that 1,000 baht is very valuable in the current poor economic climate and worrying that the person who lost it might suffer hardship.

On 10 April 2026 in Uthai Thani province, reporters reported a heartwarming story. The owner of an electrical appliance shop in the Nong Chang municipality of Uthai Thani revealed that an elderly man dropped 1,000 baht in cash in front of the shop around 09:20 on 9 April. The Nong Chang police found the money and coordinated with the shop to review CCTV footage to find the rightful owner.

This incident is another story that leaves a positive impression, reflecting the honesty and dedication of the police officers and the cooperation of the community, who together succeeded in returning the money to its owner.

Ms. Saengarun, the shop owner, revealed that on that day, a staff member messaged her that police officers wanted to meet. She went down and the officers requested to review the shop's CCTV footage to identify the owner of the lost money. After viewing the footage, they identified the owner. The police made every effort to find the owner because they considered 1,000 baht to be very valuable in the current economic conditions. Eventually, they succeeded in returning the money, and the elderly man was tearfully grateful to the police and to her for the help.

Lieutenant Narongchai Hadkaew, Deputy Traffic Inspector of Nong Chang Police, said that while patrolling banks and gold shops, he noticed a 1,000 baht note lying in front of Krung Thai Bank. He thought someone must have dropped it, so he contacted nearby shops to review CCTV footage to identify the owner, which led to finding the person.

He personally felt that 1,000 baht is very valuable in the current poor economy. He worried that the person who lost it would feel distressed and suffer hardship. He was determined to find the owner and not let anyone lose their money like that. Eventually, he found the elderly man who was the owner and returned the money immediately.

The Deputy Traffic Inspector of Nong Chang Police added that when returning the money, the elderly man thanked him repeatedly and said he only had 2,000 baht with him at the time. The man was tearful, clearly very happy to have his money back.
