Shooter of Delivery Man Caught After Fleeing by Long-Tail Boat Confesses Motive of Revenge

A delivery man was shot while using the bathroom inside a residence in Samut Prakan and later died. The shooter surrendered to police, confessing to a revenge motive after fleeing by long-tail boat and discarding the gun into the river.

Pol. Col. Jakkrich Srironnakun, superintendent of Samut Prakan City Police Station, received a report of a man shot and critically injured inside the Khlong Saensuk community on Thaiban Road, Thaiban Subdistrict, Samut Prakan City. The victim was later identified as Kathawut Khongkham, 32, a delivery worker for a private company. He was shot once on the right side of his head near the back of the neck while sitting in a bathroom. He was rushed to the hospital but died shortly after. The incident occurred during the morning of 10 Apr 2026. The shooter fled the scene.

Latest investigation revealed the suspect as Chanakorn Piewwanich, 30, a friend and neighbor of the victim. Authorities found that the two had a prior personal conflict.

After the incident, police sealed off the area and searched escape routes. They found that the suspect fled by long-tail boat across to the Phra Samut Chedi side, abandoned the boat, and continued to flee on foot.

Later, at approximately 15:30 on the same day, Chanakorn contacted police at Samut Prakan City Station to surrender. He arrived with a guardian to meet investigators and hear the charges against him.

During initial questioning, the suspect confessed to the shooting. He claimed that he previously had issues with a junior in the fishing profession group. Although they had reconciled, the victim, who was senior to the other party, remained dissatisfied and often defended the junior.

On the day of the incident, the victim called to verbally insult and challenge him to a confrontation. Angered, the suspect took a gun and went to meet him. Upon arrival, he found the victim sitting in the bathroom, pushed the door open, and a struggle for the weapon ensued before he shot the victim in the head, causing him to collapse.

After the shooting, the suspect fled by long-tail boat across the Chao Phraya River to Phra Samut Chedi, throwing the gun into the river to destroy evidence before deciding to surrender. He accepted responsibility and apologized to the victim’s family.

Police initially charged him with "intentional homicide" and are proceeding with legal action. They are also gathering additional evidence, including recovering the weapon used, to build the case further.
