Interviewing a group of youths waiting for friends, they showed the wound of another victim undergoing surgery for a gunshot that penetrated one leg and hit the other, with serious injuries.
At Mueang Uthai Thani Police Station, youth witnesses gave statements describing how during the Songkran water play, a group armed with guns arrived and began shooting, injuring their friends. Another person wielded a knife and chased someone else, while ping-pong bombs were thrown at the injured group. The attackers were identified as Mr. Aam, who lives in Khao Phawaeng, and his associates from Krokgpra District, Nakhon Sawan Province. They have a history of rivalry and fled the scene together after the attack.
Ms. A (pseudonym), a witness, told reporters that one attacker opened a pickup truck door shouting, “XXX, I can’t take it anymore.” She tried to hide after seeing a gun drawn, called her boyfriend to inform him of the situation, then hung up and ran to find him to prevent collateral harm. Her boyfriend ran without explanation, then gunfire was heard once. Startled, Ms. A ran to take cover. Later, she learned her boyfriend had been shot in the leg. She called an ambulance; doctors are currently performing surgery as the bullet passed through and hit the other leg as well.
Following the incident, police cleared the area in front of the provincial hall, using vehicles to announce the suspension of Songkran water activities and urged people to return home. Investigators at Mueang Uthai Thani Police Station have identified the suspects and are actively searching to bring them to justice.
At 09:00 on 14 Apr 2026 GMT+7, reporters revisited Mueang Uthai Thani Police Station for case updates. Police revealed positive progress, stating the father of the shooter contacted the deputy investigation chief to arrange his son’s surrender to investigators today. Although no exact time was set, authorities are awaiting the suspect to proceed with legal actions.
Preliminary investigations show the suspects are youths familiar with each other, knowing each other’s nicknames and addresses. They had prior conflicts that escalated into this revenge attack during Songkran. Witnesses clearly identified the perpetrators as “Mr. Aam” and his group who traveled from Krokgpra District, Nakhon Sawan Province to carry out the attack.
For safety measures, police immediately halted water activities in the area and deployed investigation and patrol units to monitor the hospital where victims are treated, fearing the opposing group might attempt another attack.
This alarming incident resulted in one person critically injured by a gunshot that penetrated the leg, and two others seriously wounded by knife attacks. Authorities affirmed they will intensify efforts to apprehend all perpetrators and closely monitor the victims’ conditions.
Reporter interviewed Mrs. Ning (pseudonym), a vendor near the scene, who said she heard loud gunshots and saw people running and screaming that someone had been shot. Those playing Songkran water games were frightened, stopped playing, and went home. The incident occurred around 20:00 the previous evening. Mrs. Ning noted her suspicion that the suspects escaped quickly despite heavy traffic and crowds enjoying Songkran festivities, making movement difficult. She hopes authorities will promptly capture and punish the offenders, as this caused distress to others and frightened tourists visiting during Songkran.
