The bodies of a former businessman and his wife were found shot dead in their residence. Authorities are urgently collecting evidence and have sent the bodies for detailed autopsies.
At 10:00 a.m. on 15 Apr 2026 GMT+7, Police Lieutenant Colonel Pongphat Srikong, Deputy Inspector (Investigation) of Bang Chan Police Station, received a report of a shooting with two fatalities at a village in Bang Chan subdistrict, Khlong Sam Wa district, Bangkok. He informed his superiors before inspecting the scene with Police Colonel Kritidej Phumthenet, Chief of Bang Chan Police Station, investigative officers, forensic science officials, forensic doctors from the Police Hospital, and volunteers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation.
The scene was a detached house with a fully fenced yard. On the second floor bedroom bed, the body of Mr. Thoranin, 53, was found lying face up in a pool of blood. He wore a light blue short-sleeved T-shirt and black shorts. He had a gunshot wound under the chin, with the bullet lodged inside. A .38 caliber revolver was in his right hand, resting on his body.
Nearby lay the body of his 33-year-old wife, face up in a pool of blood, wearing purple cartoon-patterned pajamas. She had a gunshot wound from the same firearm at the back of her head, the bullet passing through her left eyebrow. She had been dead for about a day. The air conditioner was still on, keeping the room cool. Additionally, a suicide note was found on the desk and secured as evidence.
During questioning, the 80-year-old father said that before the Songkran festival, he and five family members went on a trip out of town and had just returned home around 8:00 p.m. on 14 Apr 2026 GMT+7. He believed his son and daughter-in-law were already asleep because the door was locked and the air conditioner was on. The next morning, when the family planned to perform a Buddha image bathing ritual downstairs, they knocked to invite his son to join, but there was no response. Phone calls to both were unanswered. Suspicious, he used a spare key to enter and found the scene as described.
News reports indicated that the deceased couple had previously been involved in the logistics business. However, due to the economic downturn, they had to close their company. They then tried selling products online but faced intense competition, which was not very successful. Financial stress from debts and insufficient income compared to expenses may have caused them to seek no other way out, leading to the incident.
Authorities have handed over the bodies to Poh Teck Tung Foundation volunteers to transport them to the Police Hospital's Institute of Forensic Medicine for thorough autopsies.
