Lieutenant Commander Intoxicated, Fires Gun Recklessly in Entertainment District Cannabis Shop Owner Shot Dead While Trying to Intervene

There was no prior quarrel. "Lieutenant Commander" heavily intoxicated, fired gunshots recklessly in a popular entertainment district in Pattaya while the "cannabis shop owner" tried to intervene but was shot twice and died.

At 01:06 on 19 April 2026, Police Lieutenant Colonel Peerayut Borisuttham, patrol supervisor at Pattaya City Police Station, received a report of a shooting incident with severe injuries at the back of a cannabis shop on Walking Street, South Pattaya, Moo 10, Nong Prue Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province. After receiving the report, he informed his superior, Police Colonel Anek Sarathongyoo, chief of Pattaya City Police Station, then along with patrol officers, investigators, and rescue units from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation Pattaya rushed to the scene.

At the scene, the injured was identified as Mr. Pattharathorn Jirachokchaikul, 41, owner of the cannabis shop. He had been shot twice with an 11mm firearm under his left breast and was in critical condition, lying on the ground gasping for breath. Friends and staff performed first aid and CPR, and rescue personnel rushed him to Pattaya Memorial Hospital. However, he succumbed to his injuries as the bullet pierced his heart shortly after.

At the scene, authorities cordoned off the area to keep unauthorized persons away. Two 11mm bullet casings were found under a table, along with a handgun and ammunition, which were collected as evidence. The suspect was also apprehended and identified as Lieutenant Commander Jirasak Srikattanam, 54, deputy investigation supervisor at Pattaya City Police Station.

Mr. Chotipong, 48, a witness, stated that before the incident, the suspect was heavily intoxicated and brandished a firearm to intimidate people seated nearby. He then fired into an entertainment venue, though no one was injured. The deceased tried to intervene, raising his hands and pleading to put the weapon down, but the suspect refused despite no prior dispute. The suspect then shot the deceased twice, causing him to fall, grabbed the victim's mobile phone and threw it into the sea, and left the scene. Witnesses managed to detain the suspect and alerted the authorities.

Preliminarily, Police Colonel Anek Sarathongyoo, chief of Pattaya City Police Station, has ordered investigators to thoroughly collect evidence and proceed with legal action against the suspect, as well as to verify all facts.
