
Police Region 2 has issued a decisive order to expedite disciplinary and criminal proceedings against a Pattaya police officer who, while intoxicated, fatally shot a person. The officer's unit has recently ordered the officer to be suspended pending investigation. The suspect is currently detained for prosecution.
On 19 April 2026, Pol. Maj. Gen. Chatree Suksiri, Director of Operations for Police Region 2 and deputy spokesperson for the region, disclosed that a police officer assigned to the investigation unit at Pattaya City Police Station used a firearm to shoot another person, resulting in a fatality. He stated this incident caused significant loss and severely affected public confidence.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Chatchai Surachetphong, Commander of Police Region 2, has instructed Chonburi Provincial Police to strictly, swiftly, and transparently carry out both disciplinary and criminal actions in accordance with the law.
Currently, Chonburi Provincial Police have issued Order No. 118/2569 dated 19 April 2026, suspending the officer involved to avoid influencing the investigation and to demonstrate seriousness in maintaining organizational discipline and ethics. Regarding the criminal case, investigators are proceeding straightforwardly under the law without exemption. The suspect remains in custody and is undergoing prosecution at Pattaya City Police Station following the justice process.
Police Region 2 affirms it will conduct the process transparently and fairly for all parties, refusing to protect offenders under any circumstances. They emphasized that this behavior is an isolated act that completely violates the regulations, discipline, and ideals expected of police officers.
Finally, they extended deepest condolences to the victim's family and assured the public of their commitment to achieving full justice. They also pledged to strengthen supervision and enforce discipline strictly to prevent recurrence of similar incidents.
