Update on the case of Lieutenant Colonel Jeerasak Srikattanam, 54, known as Sergeant Jo, an investigator at Pattaya City Police Station, who, while intoxicated and out of control, allegedly used a firearm to shoot Mr. Pattharon Jirachokchaikul, aka King, 41, owner of a cannabis shop, causing his death behind the shop on Walking Street, South Pattaya, Chonburi Province, as previously reported.

The latest update at 11:30 a.m. today (20 April 2026) Lieutenant Police Officer Itthiporn Tangchuthaweesap, Deputy Inspector (Investigation) of Pattaya City Police Station, brought Lieutenant Colonel Jeerasak, or Sergeant Jo, the suspect in the murder and firearms case, to be charged with an additional offense of insulting an officer while performing official duties.

On the night of the incident, while patrol officers from Pattaya City Police Station were detaining Lieutenant Colonel Jeerasak, who had allegedly shot Mr. Pattharon, the cannabis shop owner, after regaining control, Police Lieutenant Colonel Peerayut Borisuttham, Patrol Supervisor, tried to negotiate and calm the suspect and asked him to sit down. Sergeant Jo responded with insulting remarks and even displayed his genitals. The patrol supervisor warned, “If you speak like that, you will face an additional charge of insulting an officer,” but Sergeant Jo remained defiant, arguing that he was an undercover agent and challenged the other party by asking if he was his father., orThis incident was recorded by reporters, leading the patrol supervisor at Pattaya City Police Station to file an additional complaint for insulting an officer while on duty.

While being taken to acknowledge the new charges, the suspect did not answer any questions from reporters. However, during the morning interrogation, Sergeant Jo briefly apologized, saying sorry to the deceased and their family. He added that the incident happened very quickly before he was taken to the detention room at Pattaya City Police Station.

At noon today, the Deputy Commander of Chonburi Province was scheduled to personally interrogate Sergeant Jo before assigning the case officer to prepare for his initial detention hearing at Pattaya Provincial Court this afternoon.

Revealing the motive behind Sergeant Jo’s shooting of the cannabis shop owner.

Mr. Sakaworn Jirachokchaikul, aka Ae, 44, the victim's brother, revealed that before the incident, Sergeant Jo came to the shop with his subordinate and a woman, three people in total. The subordinate and the woman watched a show inside the shop, while Sergeant Jo, the victim Mr. Pattharon, and Mr. Golf, the victim's business partner, went to sit at the back of the shop and ordered beer for Sergeant Jo to drink. The victim and Mr. Golf did not drink since they usually abstain from alcohol.

Mr. Golf said the conversation that day felt like a debt collection or extortion. While drinking, Sergeant Jo drew a gun and fired one shot at Mr. Golf, but the bullet grazed his head and hit the pub's side wall. The victim, sitting beside Sergeant Jo, raised his hands in a gesture and said, “Brother, why did you shoot? I’m your younger brother.” He then tried to press Sergeant Jo’s gun down, but Sergeant Jo pulled the trigger, shooting three slanting shots into the victim’s chest. The bullets were lodged inside. The victim staggered and collapsed to the ground.

After the incident, Sergeant Jo tried to escape, but the shop staff helped detain him. His subordinate was also taken into custody. I want to confirm that the reason my brother was shot by police remains unknown, but I am sure there is more behind the scenes. We are preparing to hire a lawyer to fight the case and will also examine my brother’s mobile phone, found in the sea, for further evidence.

Chat evidence shows Sergeant Jo offered to sell guns.

Later, the victim's brother revealed information fromthe victim’s phoneshowing chat conversations between Sergeant Jo and Mr. King, whom they apparently recently met. Sergeant Jo tried to sell a gun for 40,000 baht, but the victim was not interested and seldom replied because he did not want to trade guns. This is unusual because if the shooting was a momentary lapse of judgment, why did Sergeant Jo carry three guns? The weapon used was a powerful firearm with explosive bullets fired directly, with three lodged in the victim's abdomen. He probably came to settle a score.
