On the third night of the funeral vigil, relatives tapped the coffin calling for "Tee." In the case, the Pak Kret police chief is considering adding a charge against "Chang Ek," deliberating while awaiting the forensic autopsy results.
Reporters described the atmosphere at the third night vigil for Mr. Thiti, or “Tee,” held at 7:00 p.m. yesterday (20 Apr 2026) at Bang Phang Temple, Pak Kret District, Nonthaburi Province. The atmosphere was filled withgrief, as many relatives and friends came to pay their respects. At one point, the family tapped the coffin calling “Tee” with sorrow, wishing his spirit to rest in peace.
Police Colonel Adirek Thongkaemkaew, the Pak Kret police chief, attended as the ceremony's chairman. He spoke with the family to offer condolences and assured that the case would be pursued thoroughly and fairly according to legal procedures.
Police Colonel Adirek revealed that the case has received close attention from superiors. So far, investigators have interviewed many witnesses, and all evidence has been sent to the Institute of Forensic Science for examination. Preliminary investigations suggest links to the cause of the incident, but authorities are still gathering additional evidence.
He urged witnesses or anyone with information—whether friends of the deceased or involved parties—to come forward and provide testimony to Pak Kret Police Station. This will help police gather and weigh evidence and clarify the motives behind the incident. He emphasized that witness safety would be fully protected.
Colonel Adirek added that most information currently in the media is based on hearsay, with no formal testimony or evidence submitted yet. He requested cooperation to bring information into the justice system so it can be properly used as evidence. The forensic results are still pending confirmation to be included in the case file. Additional charges may be filed if new issues arise.
Regarding the case status, authorities are compiling and assessing evidence from eyewitnesses, circumstantial witnesses, and forensic findings. They confirmed that the initial charges are supported by substantial evidence, awaiting only scientific results to confirm details.
He also explained the scuffle that occurred on the day of the incident, saying police are responsible for maintaining order and gathering evidence but do not have authority to adjudicate at the scene. While escorting the suspect for questioning, police asked the deceased’s friends to cooperate and clear the way. Due to a tense and emotional atmosphere, some pushing and shoving occurred, which was limited to self-defense without use of weapons. Even rescue workers faced difficulties in their efforts.
Finally, police confirmed they are awaiting forensic autopsy results from the Institute of Forensic Science to consider key points, including whether to add a charge of "premeditation."
Meanwhile, the Nonthaburi Justice Office has assigned officials to visit the area to receive requests for criminal victim compensation and inform the deceased’s family of witness protection rights.
