Immigration Police Unit 3 Arrests Canadian Man, Major International Drug Trafficker, at Suvarnabhumi Airport

Immigration Police Unit 3 officers arrested a Canadian man suspected of international drug trafficking at Suvarnabhumi Airport after he fled and hid in Pattaya, Chonburi Province. They are preparing to deport him and coordinate his transfer to South Korean authorities for prosecution.

On 23 April 2026, Pol. Lt. Gen. Phanumas Boonyalak, Commander of the Immigration Police, along with Pol. Maj. Gen. Panthana Nuchnarat, Deputy Commander, and Pol. Maj. Gen. Songprod Sirisukha, Commander of Immigration Police Unit 3, ordered Pol. Col. Suriya Puangsombat, Chief of the Investigation Division, Immigration Police Unit 3, together with Deputy Chiefs Pol. Lt. Col. Ithithorn Prasertsak and Pol. Lt. Col. Pitipat Sritanaaphinan, and Inspector Pol. Lt. Col. Thongthai Phairo, to lead a team to arrest Mr. NG Wesiey Wai Chun, 37, a Hong Kong-born Canadian national and a key figure in an international drug trafficking network wanted by South Korean authorities.

The Immigration Police Investigation Division received information that Mr. NG Wesiey, a Canadian national and member of a drug trafficking network, conspired with associates to smuggle and distribute MDMA (ecstasy). He was responsible for managing the international shipment of these drugs. He entered Thailand on a tourist visa on 18 April and stayed at a rental house in Pattaya, Chonburi Province. Authorities conducted field investigations to trace those involved in this drug network.

While the investigation team arrived to check the location, they learned that the suspect had recently left his residence by hired transport. The arrest team pursued him along the inbound motorway to Bangkok. The target vehicle turned left toward the Suvarnabhumi Airport area.

Officers then spread out to search the departure passenger hall, where they found Mr. NG Wesiey queuing to check in for a flight to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. They identified themselves and arrested him amidst the crowded passengers. Inspection of his luggage and body revealed no drugs.

A thorough check of international law enforcement databases confirmed that Mr. NG Wesiey is an international fugitive wanted by South Korean authorities for "international drug trafficking". He is listed in Interpol's Red Notice as a wanted person.

In September 2017, Mr. NG Wesiey smuggled a parcel containing 20,000 ecstasy pills through an international courier service to an address in Busan, South Korea. After Interpol issued a warrant for his arrest, he was detained for deportation and coordination with South Korean authorities to proceed with legal actions.
