Department of Corrections Addresses Audio Clip Involving Sia Paeng Na Nakhon, Affirms Strict Control and No Mobile Phones in Prison

The Department of Corrections addresses the audio clip involving 'Sia Paeng' Na Nakhon, emphasizing a strict control system with no mobile phones allowed in prison. Regarding prison transfer requests, these must follow official regulations and administrative discretion.

On 24 April 2026, the Department of Corrections issued a statement regarding an audio clip circulating on social media, stressing that the communication occurred through the authorized remote family visitation system. They demonstrated readiness to verify every step to ensure public confidence.

The Department of Corrections received a report from Bang Kwang Central Prison. Preliminary investigation revealed that the audio clip was recorded secretly by a relative during a remote visitation session via the Line application, which is an official service provided by the prison according to Department regulations. This service allows inmates to maintain contact with family, reduce stress during incarceration, and helps relatives save on travel costs, all under controlled and monitored conditions. The use of computers complies with Section 74 of the Corrections Act B.E. 2560 (2017), designating them as official equipment for training and education of inmates.

The Department of Corrections confirms there are no prohibited items, mobile phones, or unauthorized use of phones or computers for communication inside the prison. The control of prohibited items is strictly enforced with thorough searches according to the regulations of the Department and the Ministry of Justice. Regarding requests to extend the period for filing a petition to Phatthalung Provincial Court,

this is currently under consideration by the Supreme Court. In terms of case proceedings, sentencing, appeals, or petitions by inmates, Bang Kwang Central Prison cooperates with the Nonthaburi Provincial Lawyers Council to allow all inmates to file complaints or requests for legal assistance through channels and processes defined by law. All staff perform their duties in accordance with laws, regulations, and human rights principles, upholding fairness and transparency. The Department welcomes external agencies to conduct fair investigations if complaints arise.

Regarding requests for prison transfer, such considerations must comply with regulations and administrative discretion. Priority is given to “suitability and security” first, alongside assessments of inmate behavior and classification, to ensure effective prison management nationwide.

The Department of Corrections is committed to promptly investigating all issues and will openly communicate the results to the media and public for correct and clear understanding, prioritizing governmental interests and social order.
