Man Charged with Multiple Offenses in Ayutthaya Shooting Female Teacher Tragically Killed in Front of Her Child

An update on the shooting rampage by a man in the middle of a street in Ayutthaya: one injured and one dead. The victim was a female teacher, tragically killed in front of her child after only four years of service.

Most recently, Mr. Wallop, 60, one of the injured, said that while driving with his family from Chachoengsao Province to attend a wedding, they encountered a 10-wheel truck blocking the road. As he tried to turn around, the assailant suddenly approached the car and fired one shot, which pierced the windshield, struck the dashboard, and glanced off his left arm, causing injuries that required four stitches.

At the time, he admitted to being very shocked and unsure how to react before deciding to drive away from the scene. He later learned that several other villagers' vehicles were also shot at.

Mr. Thanakorn Ruangrit, 42, younger brother of Ms. Paphatsara Ruangrit, 44, the deceased, revealed that his sister was a teacher who had served only four years. She taught at Wat Sukhantharam School (Sukhanthawittayakarn) in Bo Ta Lo Subdistrict, Wang Noi District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province.

At the time of the incident, she was traveling with relatives and her two children. Her niece called to say, “Mom was shot.” Initially, they thought the injury was not serious, but upon arrival, they found her in critical condition. She later died, causing great sorrow for the family.

The family plans to hold the funeral rites at Rat Bamrung Temple (Nong Pladuk) in Singhanat Subdistrict, Lat Bua Luang District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province.

Lieutenant Pol. Virot Sechang, investigator at Lat Bua Luang Police Station, charged Mr. Sarawut, 35, with multiple offenses: illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, carrying a firearm in public without valid reason, discharging a firearm in a community without cause, and possession of type 1 narcotics (methamphetamine).

Meanwhile, forensic officers examined gunpowder residue, latent fingerprints, and DNA from the suspect to compare with the 9mm firearm and ammunition used in the crime.

At Lat Bua Luang Police Station, relatives of the victims and local residents gathered to follow the investigation and wished to see the suspect, amid deep sadness over the attack on innocent civilians without warning.
