Court Grants Bail to Young Student Drunk Driving BMW, Killing Delivery Rider Family Posts 120,000 Baht Bail

The court granted bail to a 'young student' who, while drunk, drove a BMW and fatally struck a delivery rider. After the family filed a temporary release petition, bail was set at 120,000 baht. The court ordered the suspect to report on 27 July.

Update on the case of Mr. Phumin, a 22-year-old male student who drove a gray BMW private car registered in Bangkok and struck Mr. Alongkorn Bangkra, 27, a delivery rider on a motorcycle, resulting in immediate death at the scene. The incident occurred in front of a condominium on Chiang Rak-Bang Khan Road, Khlong Nueng Subdistrict, Khlong Luang District, Pathum Thani Province, at approximately 2:30 a.m. on 30 April 2026.

Afterwards, he went to Khlong Luang Police Station with his family to meet officers as scheduled. Pol. Col. Athimes Chaisarunwich, Superintendent of Khlong Luang Police Station, and Pol. Lt. Col. Suchai Saengsong, Deputy Superintendent of Investigation at Khlong Luang Police Station, along with investigators, jointly questioned him.

Pol. Col. Athimes Chaisarunwich, Superintendent of Khlong Luang Police Station, stated that today the police summoned the BMW driver to acknowledge charges including driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving causing death, and damage to others' property. The police took the suspect's fingerprints and prepared to request a detention order from Thanyaburi Provincial Court today. The driver confessed to all charges.

On 1 May 2026 at Thanyaburi Provincial Court, Pathum Thani Province, investigators from Khlong Luang Police Station presented Mr. Phumin, 22, the suspect in the drunk driving case, to request a 12-day detention order from 1 to 12 May.

The investigators charged him with driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving causing death, and damaging others' property. The suspect confessed, and the court considered and approved the detention request.

Subsequently, Mr. Phumin's relatives filed a petition for temporary release during detention. Thanyaburi Provincial Court reviewed and ordered his release on bail, setting the bail amount at 120,000 baht. The court required the suspect to report to the court on 27 July.
