Confession Revealed: Delivery Rider Stabs 61-Year-Old Man to Death Outside Fresh Market, Later Surrenders

A young delivery rider confessed to stabbing a 61-year-old man to death outside a market, claiming he was punched and acted in self-defense. He then fled to a relative's house in Saraburi Province before contacting police to surrender.

Reporters were informed that at approximately 18:00 on 1 May 2026, Pol. Col. Praphas Mungkang, Deputy Commander of the Samut Prakan Provincial Police, received a report from Pol. Lt. Col. Prayoon Pattuli, Deputy Superintendent of the Phra Samut Chedi Police Station’s investigation unit. The delivery rider who stabbed the 61-year-old man to death contacted authorities via relatives to surrender after hiding at a relative’s home in Saraburi Province. He then came to surrender at Phra Samut Chedi Police Station. Later identified as Mr. Chatcharin, or Earth, 33, from Bangkok, he was questioned for about 30 minutes before being taken to his residence in Soi Pracha Uthit 84. Police seized his yellow Honda Giorno Plus motorcycle, green delivery jacket, black hooded sweatshirt, white long pants, and sandals worn at the time of the incident. The knife used in the stabbing was discarded into a public canal.

Police then took Mr. Earth for a crime scene reconstruction starting at Siam Night Market, where he said the victim punched him three times before he stabbed the man once with a knife, then quickly fled on his motorcycle to his home within two minutes.

Next, they proceeded to a grocery store near the end of an alley, where Mr. Earth and the victim had parked and argued. After spending two minutes there, they returned to Phra Samut Chedi Police Station. Throughout the reconstruction, Mr. Earth refused to speak to reporters.

Mr. Earth told Deputy Superintendent Prayoon Pattuli that he was riding his motorcycle straight when Mr. Saman came out of an alley. Earth honked his horn to warn him, fearing an accident. They stopped to talk, during which Earth told Mr. Saman that his driving was dangerous. Mr. Saman responded with insults and offensive language. Earth then left but was later followed by Mr. Saman on a motorcycle. Earth stopped about 300 meters from the first spot in front of a fresh market to ask if there was an issue and saw that Mr. Saman appeared intoxicated. Not wanting trouble, he was surprised when Mr. Saman got off his motorcycle and punched him three times. Earth then drew a folding knife and stabbed once in self-defense before fleeing on his motorcycle. Police background checks revealed Earth had a prior drug-related conviction in 2020 in Phra Samut Chedi jurisdiction.

Police have charged Mr. Earth with murder and carrying a knife in a city, village, or public area without reasonable cause. They continue to interrogate him before handing the case over to prosecutors for further legal proceedings.
