Police Major General Kriangkrai Boonsorn, Chief of Chachoengsao Provincial Police, accompanied by forensic teams, inspected the scene of a lithium battery truck fire, which is classified as hazardous material. They also plan to take legal action against the driver and the originating company involved in the shipment. Meanwhile, engineers examined the Burapha Withi Expressway structure and found it safe, allowing expressway lanes to be reopened normally.

At 09:30 on 4 May 2026, Police Major General Kriangkrai Boonsorn, Chief of Chachoengsao Provincial Police, Police Colonel Bundit Thammanan, Superintendent of Bang Pakong Police Station, Sub-Lieutenant Yutthapong Warasart, Deputy Investigating Officer of Bang Pakong Police Station, along with fire trucks from Bang Wua Kanarak Municipality, traffic police of Bang Pakong, highway police of Bang Pakong, and forensic teams, inspected the scene of a fire involving a white Isuzu 10-wheeler truck, license plate 72-9858 Nakhon Pathom, on Thepharat Road (Bangna-Trad) at km 40 on the expressway inbound to Bangkok, in Moo 6, Bang Wua Subdistrict, Bang Pakong District.

The fire blazed fiercely, reaching above the Burapha Withi Expressway, causing significant damage to the expressway structure.

Initially, forensic teams collected samples of the burned material and found it to be lithium batteries, which can reignite if heat accumulates or if subjected to impact, classifying them as hazardous materials.

Police Major General Kriangkrai Boonsorn stated that it is now confirmed the truck was carrying hazardous materials leading to the incident. Investigators are urgently reviewing transport documents to verify their presence and legality; if absent, immediate legal action will follow. Plans are underway to search a factory in Plaeng Yao, the shipment's origin point. The evidence will be properly secured, coordinating with six-wheel trucks from Bang Wua Kanarak Municipality and private companies to transfer and store the materials at the Plaeng Yao factory.

Engineers from the Burapha Withi Expressway Authority (Bangna-Chonburi Expressway) confirmed after inspecting the structure that it remains safe, allowing the expressway lanes to be reopened to normal traffic flow.
