Arrest Made of Former Son-in-Law in Brutal Shooting at Ex-Girlfriend’s Home in Kanchanaburi Confesses Motive

The former son-in-law was arrested along with a firearm after storming his ex-girlfriend’s house in Kanchanaburi and fatally shooting two people. He confessed that the motive was to shoot his former mother-in-law out of deep resentment.

According to the incident, a 47-year-old man broke into his ex-girlfriend’s house in Village 7, Lat Ya Subdistrict. He argued with his former mother-in-law before using a firearm he carried to commit the act at about 19:20 on 6 May 2026, as previously reported.

At 02:45 on 7 May 2026, Police Colonel Sitthipong Sangsaeng, superintendent of Lat Ya Police Station, together with Deputy Superintendent Police Lieutenant Colonel Chatphum Witayakesompong and Investigation Officer Police Lieutenant Colonel Suphatwut Kimsang, led an investigation team with local authorities to arrest Mr. Chayan, 47, along with a 9mm Glock 17 pistol. He was taken for questioning at Lat Ya Police Station.

During initial questioning, the suspect stated that he intended to shoot his former mother-in-law out of deep resentment due to obstruction, collusion with Choo, his ex-wife, and disputes over property division, which had already been subject to court mediation. After shooting the former mother-in-law twice, her younger brother, Mr. Mac, intervened and assaulted him, prompting him to fire two shots at him and then shoot his former father-in-law three times. The father-in-law tried to wrestle the gun away and the suspect attempted to shoot him again but the gun jammed, after which he fled. This statement represents only the suspect’s account.

Authorities are preparing to charge him with 1. intentional homicide, 2. attempted murder, and 3. violations of the Firearms Act for carrying and discharging a firearm in a public place without a license.
