Tone Bangkae clarifies he has never defaulted on Madam Keng's debt, acknowledging an initial debt of up to 800 million baht, now reduced to just over 300 million baht, and addresses the controversy over amulet collateral.
At 10:30 a.m. on 7 May 2026, at the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) complaint center, Mr. Tone Thong Sukkaen , known as "Tone Bangkae" a famous amulet expert, accompanied by lawyer Mr. Chalermchai Sriyuphak, went to meet investigators to present themselves and understand the facts after social media rumors suggested possible involvement in a fraud scheme. He firmly denied any intention to flee and expressed readiness to cooperate with the justice process to prove the truth.
Mr. Tone Thong clarified the debt issue with Madam Keng Ms. Don Thianthawawong, his opponent, admitting that he indeed owes money under contract, with an initial debt of up to 800 million baht. He has been steadily making payments, and currently the remaining debt is around just over 300 million baht.
"I have always complied with the contract and never intended to default. There may have been delays of only 3-5 days occasionally, which is normal in business. I have already paid ahead up to the year 2027, although the contract runs until 2030. Regarding luxury cars and branded goods, I confirm these were purchased on installment plans that have been fully paid off, not old debts or gifts as alleged," Mr. Tone Thong stated.
He added that concerning the amulets valued at over 400-500 million baht used as collateral, which the opposing party claims were undervalued, he noted that amulet prices fluctuate with market mechanisms similar to stocks. He also pointed out that on the day of delivery, a trusted amulet expert from the opposing party assessed the value himself. If the value did not cover the debt, why did the creditors accept the collateral in the first place?
Regarding the meeting with "Big Tao" Police Major General Jaroonkiat Pankaew, Deputy Commander of the CIB, on 17 April, Mr. Tone Thong admitted that he did coordinate through close contacts to explain the debt problems but was drawn into debt mediation talks, which was not the original intention.
Mr. Tone Thong also confirmed that the reason for filing complaints against Police Major General Jaroonkiat and four others was to protect his legal rights. He felt unfairly treated and believed that debt mediation should be conducted in civil court, not in a police officer's office.
Mr. Tone Thong concluded by emphasizing his commitment to his business and affirming he will repay the debt fully as agreed. His visit was to demonstrate his sincerity and that he has not fled as reported in the news.
