Cat Burglar Overdoses on Meth After Stealing 40,000 Baht, Causing Police Trouble

A cat burglar heavily intoxicated on meth celebrated stealing 40,000 baht by consuming 25 pills. After his arrest, police struggled as he was incoherent during questioning and had to be closely watched for fear of shock.

On 8 May 2026, reporters learned that Police Lieutenant Colonel Triapirat Chantawiset, investigative officer at Tha Sala Police Station, Nakhon Si Thammarat, along with his team, detained Arin Phanchampee, 39, a Bangkok resident, at a rented house in Village 8, Tha Sala Subdistrict, Tha Sala District, Nakhon Si Thammarat. Arin was wanted on an arrest warrant for burglary, having broken into a house in the same area and stolen 40,000 baht in cash.

During custody, Arin was found nearly unconscious from heavy methamphetamine intoxication. He was unable to stay conscious, his face contorted as if his spirit was leaving his body, and he spoke incoherently.

Upon questioning, it was revealed that before his arrest, Arin used the stolen money to buy 30 meth pills and consumed 25 of them continuously day and night without sleep. Of the stolen cash, 21,700 baht remained, which he claimed was used to repay a friend.

After bringing him to the police station, officers had to closely monitor Arin’s condition, fearing he might go into shock due to taking 25 meth pills within less than 24 hours. Authorities will notify the victim and proceed with legal action against the suspect.
