The biological mother of the 3-year-old child has come forward, denying she sold her child and asserting she is not involved in the child swap. She says she was also deceived. Moving forward, they will jointly care for the child before returning her to the biological mother. Meanwhile, the other child’s whereabouts remain unknown, as the nanny has not revealed where she took the child.
In a case where a devastated mother appealed to the Paweena Foundation to coordinate with police to help find her biological child, who was swapped by a nanny and replaced with another child for three years, the truth was revealed through a mysterious woman’s chat claiming to be the mother of the child she was raising, as previously reported.
The latest update at 16:30 on 8 May 2026: Mrs. Paweena Hongsakul of the Paweena Hongsakul Foundation for Children and Women invited Miss Mayuree or Joy, 24, the victim, and Miss Jariya or May, 24, the biological mother of “Nong Ae” (a pseudonym), the 3-year-old child who was swapped, to meet at Bang Lamung Police Station, Chonburi Province, to discuss and verify the facts of the case and future child care plans. Present were Police Colonel Sarawut Nuchnat, Superintendent of Bang Lamung Police, Police Lieutenant Colonel Chusak Pinrat, Deputy Superintendent (Investigation), Miss Sutthinee Nuchnat, Head of Chonburi Child Shelter, Mr. Pichet Thammoh, Senior District Officer of Bang Lamung, and Mr. Peeraphong Sampru, District Officer of Bang Lamung, holding a joint meeting.
Miss May recounted that the situation began about two months after giving birth (November 2023). She posted online in a Facebook group seeking someone to care for her daughter. Several people responded, including Miss Som, who claimed to be her real sister and said she had a lesbian partner in South Korea who desperately wanted a child but couldn't have one, and wished to care for her daughter. At that time, May was about 21, a single mother, inexperienced, and suffering from panic and depression. She decided to give her child away, thinking the family would provide better care, with the condition that she could always contact her child and be kept informed of her growth and well-being. Two days after the agreement, Miss Som came to take the child.
Initially, Miss Som regularly sent photos of the child and video-called May. However, after about five months, Miss Som stopped contacting her. May searched for her name on Facebook and found Miss Joy’s account, which had photos of her child. She believed Miss Joy was Miss Som’s real sister who had taken the child. May contacted her immediately and learned that Miss Joy had also been deceived by Miss Som. When the truth came out, Miss Som called to threaten and insult May in anger over the exposure of the child swap. May insists she never knew about or was involved in swapping the child.
Regarding reports that the child was sold for 10,000 baht, May clarified that it was not a sale. Miss Som had settled an illegal debt of about 5,500-6,500 baht for her and promised to give money for rent later, which never happened. May did not receive any money from Miss Som.
For the child’s care, Miss May, the biological mother, agreed with Miss Joy, the victim, to jointly care for the child initially. The child will stay with Miss Joy first and gradually transition to Miss May to help the child adjust, as a sudden change of caregiver might impact the child psychologically. Social welfare officials will oversee all processes related to the child’s relocation and care, including suitability of housing, safety, and parental capability, to prevent future problems.
Mrs. Paweena Hongsakul appealed to anyone who has taken the child to return her to her mother’s embrace, expressing sympathy and urging not to separate mother and child. She asked good Samaritans with information to contact the Paweena Foundation at 098-478-8991 or 081-890-1355. She thanked all agencies, especially the media, for their cooperation in publicizing the case, which led to contact with the biological mother. The Paweena Foundation will continue searching for the other child.
Additional reports state that Miss Wisuda or Som, the problematic nanny, had family members apply for bail after the verdict. However, Pattaya Provincial Court denied bail, and she was detained in Pattaya Special Prison.
