Police Deploy Forces to Manage Red Shirt Protesters Staying Overnight Outside Klong Prem Prison Intelligence Remains Calm

Police Region 2 Commander inspects readiness and deploys forces to manage Red Shirt protesters staying overnight outside Klong Prem Prison, awaiting Thaksin's parole release tomorrow morning. He confirms intelligence remains calm and orderly.

At 16:50 on 10 May 2026 at Bangkok Remand Prison, Chatuchak district, Bangkok, Police Major General Kiattikul Sonthiener, Commander of Police Region 2, visited the site to hold a meeting for security planning and directing safety measures. This is to prepare for crowds gathering to support former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, who will be considered for parole and released from Klong Prem Prison tomorrow (11 May). Police Colonel Yutthasilp Karin, Superintendent of Thung Song Hong Police Station, along with Police Colonel Sakdidej Kamphol-anuphap, Superintendent of Pracha Chuen Police Station, and investigative officers from both stations and Police Region 2 attended the meeting.

Police Major General Kiattikul, Commander of Police Region 2, stated that preparations began early with consultations involving the Department of Corrections, Klong Prem Central Prison, and all relevant parties. A security and public assembly plan has been developed, with deployment of both police and corrections officers, as well as district office staff, to maintain safety and facilitate traffic. He also requested cooperation from protesters to organize the area to minimize impact on local residents and commuters on Ngamwongwan Road, especially during tomorrow morning’s Monday rush hour. Efforts are underway to inform the public in advance.

Regarding intelligence and surveillance for potential third-party groups causing disturbances, Police Major General Kiattikul confirmed coordination with intelligence units, including the Special Branch Police and Metropolitan Police Region 2 investigative teams, alongside Thung Song Hong Police Station. They are monitoring movements of groups previously involved in unrest. Currently, the overall situation remains calm and orderly.
