
Pol. Maj. Gen. Kiattikul Sonthienorn, commander of Metropolitan Police Division 2, revealed that the Metropolitan Police Commissioner has signed an order to establish a fact-finding committee regarding the case of a Chinese man caught with an arsenal. It was found that police firearms were in his possession, involving two officers from Division 2. The committee is urgently summoning those involved to clarify the origin of the guns and examine evidence.
On 10 May 2026, Pol. Maj. Gen. Kiattikul Sonthienorn, commander of Metropolitan Police Division 2, disclosed that the Metropolitan Police Commissioner issued an order yesterday to set up a fact-finding committee concerning police firearms found with “the Chinese man,” identified as Mr. Mingchen Sun. Police Colonel Thanakrit Booncharoen, deputy commander of operations at the Metropolitan Police Bureau, has been appointed chair of the committee.
The disciplinary process will require summoning all involved individuals for questioning to explain the origin of the firearms and to review relevant evidence. Those accused will have the opportunity to provide their statements and clarify the facts.
Within the jurisdiction of Metropolitan Police Division 2, two officers have been identified as involved: a deputy inspector from Sai Mai Police Station, who owns the firearm, and an inspector from the Investigation Division of Metropolitan Police Division 2. Investigations into other individuals outside this unit are ongoing.
Meanwhile, both officers continue to perform their duties as usual while awaiting the results of the fact-finding committee’s investigation.
