Authorities are preparing to send Ming Chen Sun, a Chinese man hiding a weapons cache, back to Pattaya Provincial Court, with a psychologist assigned to accompany him after he was observed to be tense at all times, refusing to eat for two days and drinking only water.
On 11 May 2026, reporters updated on the case of Ming Chen Sun, 30, a Chinese suspect involved in a car rollover accident on the railway road, Moo 1, Na Jomtien Subdistrict, Sattahip District, Chonburi Province. This led to the discovery of a large stockpile of war weapons hidden inside a house in Huai Yai Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province. The investigation expanded to detain five suspects involved in trafficking assault rifles, specifically two M4 rifles found in the suspect's home. The five include Kachain, 47, a shooting range instructor in Pattaya; Jamlong, 51, a front man; Petty Officer Methi, 46, affiliated with the 2nd Naval Military Police Battalion; Petty Officer Watcharin, aka Sgt. Boy, 43, from the Naval Aviation Unit; and Petty Officer Pathompong, aka Sgt. Haeb, 54, a former official of the 2nd Naval Military Police Battalion.
Based on the circumstances, authorities have charged the suspects with the offense of "Possessing firearms that cannot be licensed by the registrar and jointly selling firearms that cannot be licensed by the registrar." Initially, all five suspects have denied the charges and intend to contest their innocence in court.
Meanwhile, around 10:00 a.m. at the Operations Center of the Immigration Police in Chonburi (Immigration Office, Chonburi Province), located in Jomtien, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province, where Ming Chen Sun is being held, officials from various agencies have continuously conducted interrogations. The Chinese suspect was still wearing the same clothes as on the day of his arrest.
However, this afternoon, Chonburi Immigration Police confirmed that the suspect's detention period for further questioning had ended, and preparations are underway to send him back to Pattaya Provincial Court.
Reporters spoke with an Immigration Volunteer Police officer who is one of the personnel assigned to monitor the suspect while he is held at the Operations Center of the Immigration Police in Chonburi. Since being transferred from Na Jomtien Police Station at about 3 a.m. on 10 May until now, Ming Chen Sun has refused to eat, even when police tried to feed him. He drinks only water and requests cigarettes, smoking two to three sticks at a time.
Additionally, during detention, the suspect has spoken less about self-harm compared to the initial period after arrest but remains tense at all times. A psychologist is assigned to stay close, talk with the suspect to help him relax, and provide medication as scheduled because the suspect suffers from depression.
