Krabi District Chief Registers Marriage for Man Arrested with Methamphetamine Before Prison

The Krabi district chief registered the marriage of a drug suspect caught with 399 methamphetamine pills before being sent to prison. The suspect's girlfriend promised to wait for him to serve his full sentence and to build a life together.

On 12 May 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported that after the Krabi district administrative officers arrested "Dome Kohklang," a drug suspect found with 399 methamphetamine pills and with an outstanding firearm case, he requested to register his marriage with his girlfriend before being imprisoned. Mr. Preecha Saengthong, the Krabi district chief, therefore registered the marriage as requested before the legal proceedings.

Mr. Preecha Saengthong, the Krabi district chief, explained that the district administrative officers conducted an operation targeting small-time drug dealers in the area. The suspect was a key figure in Kohklang village, Khlong Prasong Subdistrict. Officers had intelligence that the suspect was going to visit a woman at a dormitory in Krabi town, so they planned and arrested him along with 399 methamphetamine pills. Further checks revealed he had an outstanding warrant for a firearm case, leading to his detention for prosecution.

During the process, the suspect and his girlfriend requested to register their marriage. The woman promised to wait for him to complete his legal sentence and to live together. The district chief accordingly registered their marriage as requested.

Many see this case as an example where, despite a life gone astray, love still stands firm with someone by one's side during the loss of freedom. Initially, authorities have detained the suspect for prosecution and are expanding investigations to identify related networks.
