The Department of Corrections revealed the case of a Chinese man stockpiling weapons who was rushed to hospital. The initial cause is suspected to be a drug overdose. Officials have assigned staff to closely monitor and care for him.
On 12 May 2026, at 19:30 on 11 May, officials from Pattaya Special Prison brought Ming Chen Sun, a Chinese suspect involved in a case of concealing C4 explosives and numerous weapons, to Pattaya Pattamakun Hospital urgently after he experienced convulsions while being processed into the new inmate reception system at Pattaya Special Prison.Read the news: Police intensify security as Chinese man receives hospital treatment; if condition worsens, transfer to provincial hospital required.)
Yutthana Nakruangsri, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Corrections and spokesperson, stated that on the night of 11 May he received an initial report from the commander of Pattaya Special Prison. The suspect remains under treatment at Pattaya Pattamakun Hospital and has not been transferred to Chonburi Hospital.
The preliminary cause is suspected to be an overdose of medication the suspect regularly carries for treatment. It is believed the overdose occurred before he was detained at Pattaya Special Prison, since taking medication or requesting to bring regular medicine into the prison requires approval and verification by officials.
Although the suspect has been on a hunger strike for three days since the investigation stage, he has been drinking some water. Given the situation, it appears to be related to high stress levels, and he has not yet received any visits from relatives.
Therefore, while the suspect remains under treatment at Pattaya Pattamakun Hospital, the Department of Corrections has assigned staff to closely monitor him alongside police officers to ensure his safety. Additional details will be summarized and communicated by the Department’s public relations to inform the media.
