Accident "38-year-old man" Driving a luxury car, he crashed into a six-wheel crane truck and tragically died at the scene. Authorities are examining CCTV footage to investigate the cause in detail.
At 00:41 on 15 May 2026, Police Lieutenant Colonel Parithat Wibulyanont, investigation officer at Talat Phlu Police Station, received a report of a rear-end collision between a car and a truck on Ratchaphruek Road near Pho Nimit BTS Station, Bukkhalo Subdistrict, Thonburi District, Bangkok. One person was trapped dead inside the vehicle. He coordinated with the forensic team from Siriraj Hospital and volunteers from Poh Teck Tung Foundation to inspect the scene.
At the scene, a black Mercedes-Benz E300 two-door luxury car registered in Bangkok was found with its front severely damaged, wedged into the rear of a six-wheel crane truck also registered in Bangkok. The male driver was trapped inside the vehicle. Rescue workers urgently used hydraulic cutting tools to extract the body.
The victim was later identified as Mr. Purich Yiamwanichnan, 38. After extraction, rescuers performed CPR and coordinated with the Erawan emergency medical team for further aid, but the victim did not respond and was later pronounced dead by doctors.
Mr. Somporn Prajamthin, 43, construction site foreman and driver of the crane truck, said that before the accident, he and his workers were returning from a job site in Charoen Nakhon heading towards a site near Rattanathibet in Nonthaburi. Along the way, a light sign rope broke, forcing them to park and resolve the issue. Another vehicle had hit the sign lying on the road, so they were handling insurance matters and had placed cones with personnel directing traffic about 30-40 meters away.
Mr. Somporn added that after settling the matter with the other party and while preparing to continue the journey, the Mercedes-Benz suddenly crashed heavily into the rear of the truck. He did not know how the car was driven. Fortunately, no workers were injured in this incident.
Initially, police summoned the truck driver for further questioning at Talat Phlu Police Station and reviewed CCTV footage from the area to thoroughly investigate the accident's cause, ensuring fairness for all parties. The deceased's body was sent to Siriraj Hospital's Department of Forensic Medicine for a detailed autopsy before coordinating with relatives for religious funeral rites.
