Corrections Department Reports Latest Condition of Ming Chen Sun: Moved Out of ICU but Remains Hospitalized

The spokesman for the Corrections Department revealed that Ming Chen Sun, also known as Atee Sea Four, has been moved out of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). However, the length of his continued hospital stay depends on the doctors' discretion. Meanwhile, corrections officers and police are providing strict 24-hour security to prevent escape or any attempts to forcibly take the detainee.

On 18 May 2026, Mr. Yutthana Nakruangsri, Deputy Director-General of the Corrections Department and its spokesman, disclosed the latest condition of 31-year-old Chinese detainee Ming Chen Sun, who is awaiting trial on charges related to firearms and explosives. Regarding his medical treatment, the detainee has been assessed and authorized to leave the ICU. He is currently resting alone in a highly secure hospital ward.

Corrections officers continue to closely monitor the detainee, supported by police officers from Bang Lamung Police Station and the Special Operations Unit (SOP) of the Provincial Police Region 2 Command. They jointly conduct 24-hour security operations around the hospital premises.

Visits from relatives are still not permitted because the detainee remains hospitalized.

His latest condition has improved; he has started to regain consciousness and strength. Previously, he was unable to eat, but it is now expected he will begin to consume small amounts of food.

The seizure and loss of consciousness he experienced on the incident day are believed to be caused by an overdose of his regular medication before being taken into custody, rather than drug use. The detainee also has a history of depression treatment. However, diagnosis and treatment decisions remain the responsibility of medical professionals.

Official blood test results will be managed by medical staff and the investigating police officers responsible for the case. Regarding concerns about the detainee's anxiety or unusually high stress during hospitalization, there is currently no significant cause for worry.

Regarding the duration of his hospital stay, this remains at the discretion of the medical team. From an operational perspective, both the Corrections Department and police must maintain surveillance, which may create potential security risks or escape opportunities. Therefore, decisions about returning the detainee to prison will consider medical advice alongside security concerns. For now, he will continue his treatment at Pattaya Patthamakun Hospital.
