
Sriracha police and local administrative authorities jointly arrested Amnat Ruengreang, former world amateur boxing champion, after a drug use video went viral on social media. Tests confirmed the presence of narcotics in his body. He expressed remorse and admitted wrongdoing. He will be handed over to investigators to proceed with legal action, which may result in additional imprisonment.
The family of Amnat Ruengreang, former Thai world amateur boxing champion, grew frustrated and posted a video showing his drug use and disruptive behavior late at night. The video was widely shared and has become a topic of public attention.
Most recently, at 19:30 today (18 May 2026), Mr. Phiphatphon Amornphet, Sriracha district chief officer, along with Police Lieutenant Colonel Kittithara Jaemjaeng, head of patrol division, Sriracha Police Station, Police Lieutenant Colonel Kittiphat Darunphan, patrol division (special unit), and officers from the police and Sriracha Territorial Defense Volunteers jointly arrested Amnat Ruengreang, former world amateur boxing champion. The arrest occurred in Khao Taeng On community, Surasak Subdistrict, Sriracha District, Chonburi Province. He was taken for drug testing, which confirmed the presence of narcotics.
Mr. Phiphatphon stated that after learning of the case, Sriracha district security officials coordinated closely with police to track the suspect. They found him walking along a road in the community area, arrested him, and transferred him to investigators to proceed with legal action.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Kittiphat Darunphan confirmed that authorities did not ignore the case and swiftly pursued the suspect until his arrest. He added that the suspect currently has a pending suspended sentence and has failed to report to the court as required. Authorities will send a letter to the Chonburi Probation Office to consider revoking the suspension, which may result in additional prison time.
Meanwhile, Amnat Ruengreang revealed he did not expect his family to release the video. He admitted to using narcotics and expressed regret over the incident. He also acknowledged that the video has severely affected his reputation.
At times, Amnat Ruengreang said, "I never imagined that those close to me would do this. I have tried to quit all intoxicants and have done my best to improve myself. I want to be a role model for youth. I teach boxing to children and run a fitness center. I admit I made a mistake. I didn’t realize it would escalate like this. Once posted, social media can be very harsh—it can figuratively 'kill' or 'not kill,' but it is very intense."
