Female Student Alarmed as Senior, Police Officer’s Son, Climbs into Dorm Room at Night Father Says Son Was Unaware of Law

Udon Thani – A female student was alarmed when a senior, son of a police officer, climbed into her dorm room late at night, claiming he wanted to clear the air. The boyfriend’s jealousy led to unfollowing on Instagram. The father, Police Lieutenant Colonel, acknowledged the matter, stating his son was unaware of the law and acted without understanding, but he will allow the legal process to proceed.

At 18:53 on 18 May 2026, Police Lieutenant Colonel Songphop Kamjai, Deputy Superintendent (Investigation) at Mueang Udon Thani Police Station, was on duty when Mrs. Suay, 54, owner of a dormitory in Udon Thani municipality, and Ms. A (alias), 21, a fourth-year student from a local college in Udon Thani, brought CCTV evidence to file a complaint. They sought to press charges against Mr. Wave, 21, a senior from the same institution, who secretly climbed into the dorm room during the early hours, entering the room while she was asleep. The incident occurred at approximately 05:02 on 18 May.

Ms. A said she studies at a local college and lives in Mrs. Suay’s dormitory. She respected Mr. Wave as a senior from the same institution who had always helped her. She already has a boyfriend and never had any romantic interest in Mr. Wave, who has since graduated. Although he caused no physical harm, if there were issues, they should have been discussed during normal hours, not by climbing into the dorm while she was sleeping. The incident frightened and scared her. Afterward, she reported to the dorm owner, who checked the CCTV footage and confirmed the event. They then took the evidence to the police.

Later, Police Colonel Patthanawong Chanphon, Superintendent of Mueang Udon Thani Police Station, ordered patrol officers to inspect the scene. They found that Mr. Wave’s house was next to the dormitory and that he is the son of a police officer assigned to the same station. Mr. Wave admitted climbing into the dorm, taking advantage of the fact that the door was unlocked, and sneaking into the room.

His purpose was to address his discomfort over his girlfriend’s jealousy toward the junior student, which led her to unfollow the girlfriend’s Instagram. He said he only wanted to apologize and clear the air, not intending to frighten her. He admitted he acted without understanding the consequences.

Mrs. Wan, 40, mother of Ms. A, said her daughter told her about the incident. On the night it happened, her daughter had trouble sleeping, dozing lightly, until dawn when she saw a man standing in the room. Startled, she asked, “Why are you here? What are you doing?” The man did not harm her. Her daughter knows him as a senior from the same college. When asked why he climbed into the room, he said he wanted to talk and apologize because his girlfriend had blocked her on Facebook. Her daughter responded, “Why didn’t you come during the daytime?” The girlfriend was jealous because he was a senior who had always helped her with studying and tutoring. Her daughter said she only contacted him about school and work matters, not anything romantic.

“I learned about the incident last night and immediately invited my elder brother and son to come to the dorm. They arrived late and did not discuss much. My daughter went to her internship the next morning. We will discuss how to proceed, but she will continue living in the dorm because we don’t hold any ill will. She has never met the man in person, only received video clips from the dorm owner,” the mother said.

Meanwhile, the suspect’s father, Police Lieutenant (who declined to be filmed), said, He is aware that his son climbed into the junior student’s dorm room. His son did not understand the legal implications and acted without awareness. He recalled that his son and the junior student had been in a relationship for two years and that he had even brought her to eat mangoes at their home. Regarding the legal case, the investigation with the victim is ongoing. He will let the legal process proceed and, despite being a police officer, will not interfere with the law enforcement process.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Dittawat Thawornsinpong, Deputy Superintendent (Investigation) of Mueang Udon Thani Police Station, said after the investigator completes questioning the victim and witnesses, a summons will be issued to Mr. Wave to acknowledge charges of nighttime trespassing and to proceed legally.
